Katy Perry shares video for ‘Lifetimes,’ reveals ‘143’ tracklist

Katy Perry has dropped the video for her new single, “Lifetimes,” directedby frequent Bad Bunny collaborator Stillz.   The video finds Perry making memories in Ibiza, Spain, as she spends the day on the beach before partying all night at the club.

Perry said in a press statement: “‘Lifetimes’ is a song about eternal love. It’s about finding that one deep and satisfying love of your life. A soulmate doesn’t always have to come in the form of a partner – it can come in all different ways, a child, a best friend, a pet. For me it is my daughter – I ask her every night, ‘Will you find me in every lifetime?’ She says yes, and I feel found. You’ll find each other, over and over again, for lifetimes.”

Elsewhere in the music video, Perry reveals the 11-song track list for her upcoming album, 143, which features “Lifetimes” as well as the project’s lead single, “Woman’s World.” Other song titles include “I’m His He’s Mine,” “Crush,” “Nirvana,” “All the Love,” “Truth” and “Wonder.” There also appears to be some undisclosed collaborations on the album on songs including “Gorgeous,” “Gimme Gimme” and “Artificial.” 143, which is code for “I love you,” is scheduled for release on Sept. 20.

‘Lifetimes’ follows Perry’s previous release ‘Woman’s World‘ which served as the lead single from ‘143’ which is available for pre-sale / pre-order here.

‘Significant’ 4.4 magnitude earthquake shakes Los Angeles

A 4.4 magnitude earthquake occurred in the Los Angeles region on Monday afternoon at 12:20 p.m. PT , according to the US Geological Survey. The quake had an initial reported intensity of 4.7 but was since revised down to 4.4.

The Los Angeles Police Department posted on social media: Significant earthquake just felt in the Los Angeles area. Reminder, please use 911 only for emergencies. Be prepared for aftershocks.

According to the U.S. Geological Survey, the epicenter was located near the city’s Highland Park neighborhood, a few miles north of downtown Los Angeles. No injuries were reported and no major infrastructure damage was found, the Los Angeles Fire Department said. The shallow quake was only 7.5 miles deep and directly under the populated areas of Los Angeles, so was likely felt widely despite the relatively modest intensity.

Cal Tech officials said in a statement that the quake is believed to be along the lower Elysian Park Fault, but a number of faults are in the area, and added that there’s less than a 10% chance of a 5.0 magnitude or higher aftershock over the next week.  The 4.4 earthquake was preceded by two small earthquakes — 1.7 magnitude and 1.3 magnitude — over the last day, according to the U.S. Geological Survey.

The earthquake came on the first day of school for students at the Los Angeles Unified School District, the second-largest school district in the country. The Los Angeles Fire Department was sent into earthquake mode, with crews at 106 fire stations doing surveys of their districts. There were no immediate reports of injuries or structural damage, the department said.

U.S. sends guided missile submarine to Middle East in fears of Iran’s retaliation against Israel

The Pentagon confirmed that the United States is sending the USS Georgia guided missile submarine to the Middle East and is speeding up the arrival of the USS Abraham Lincoln carrier strike group, equipped with F-35C fighters “in light of escalating regional tensions.”  Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin had ordered the dispatch of the USS Georgia guided missile submarine to the region, and further ordered the USS Abraham Lincoln Carrier Strike Group to accelerate its ongoing transit to the area.

The moves came amid mounting fears that Iran might soon respond to the assassination of Hamas’ political leader, Ismail Haniyeh, who was killed in Tehran last month after attending the inauguration ceremony for Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian. Both Iran and Hamas blamed Israel for the killing, and while Israel has remained quiet on the matter it is widely believed to have carried out the assassination.

As Israel braces for retaliatory attacks from Iran and its proxies after the assassination of senior members of Hamas and Hezbollah, Israel Defense Forces spokesman Rear Adm. Daniel Hagari said in a statement Monday: “We’re following Hezbollah and Iran and ready. We’re at highest alert.”

According to a readout of the Pentagon conversation, in a conversation with Israeli Defense Secretary Yoav Gallant,” Secretary Austin reiterated the United States’ commitment to take every possible step to defend Israel and noted the strengthening of U.S. military force posture and capabilities throughout the Middle East.”  The two defense officials “also discussed Israel’s operations in Gaza and the importance of mitigating civilian harm, progress towards securing a cease-fire and the release of hostages held in Gaza” as well as efforts to deter Iran, Hezbollah, and other Iran-allied groups in the region.

On Monday, the leaders of the U.K., Germany and France released their own joint statement calling for a cease-fire in Gaza, the release of the hostages and the “unfettered” delivery of aid to Gaza, and urged Iran and its proxies, like Lebanon’s Hezbollah, to refrain from attacks that could further escalate the conflict in the region.  The joint statement read: “They will bear responsibility for actions that jeopardize this opportunity for peace and stability. No country or nation stands to gain from a further escalation in the Middle East.”

Iran’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei vowed “severe punishment” for the assassination, but it remains unclear exactly how Iran plans to retaliate.
