Nicole Kidman marks Keith Urban's birthday onstage at Concert for Carolina

Nicole Kidman gave a shout-out to her husband, Keith Urban, for spending his birthday giving back to those in need.

On Saturday, Nicole and Keith attended the Concert for Carolina at Bank of America Stadium in Charlotte, North Carolina, to help raise funds for relief efforts in the aftermath of Hurricane Helene.

The benefit concert featured headliners Luke Combs and Eric Church and included performances by Keith, Bailey Zimmerman, Scotty McCreery, James Taylor and Sheryl Crow, among others.

The event raised $24.5 million, according to The Charlotte Observer.

The evening also saw Nicole making a surprise appearance onstage to celebrate her husband's 57th birthday.

But first, she helped Keith welcome Church to the stage.

“[We’re] here with all of you tonight because of Eric giving Keith a call,” Nicole told the crowd. “I do want to say it’s his birthday tonight. … And he wanted to be here with you. So here we go. Eric Church called him and here we are.”

Earlier in October Eric and Luke, both North Carolina natives, opened up about their Concert for Carolina benefit concert, which aimed at helping communities recover in the wake of Hurricane Helene.

Eric told Good Morning America that this cause is so important to him because, “It’s very simply who I am: North Carolina-made.”

Meanwhile, Luke told GMA that after seeing the devastation Helene left in its wake, Eric was “the first guy I called.”

“I know how much our state means to him, and to myself, and I knew that he would be willing to do whatever it took to help out,” he continued.

Trump holds rally at NYC’s Madison Square Garden; Harris campaigns in Pennsylvania

Former President Donald Trump and his running mate, Sen. JD Vance, held a rally on Sunday at Madison Square Garden in New York City MSG, which seats 19,500 people, opened its doors around noon EDT to Trump supporters, many of whom camped outside overnight Saturday, with the event beginning around 5 p.m.

The Trump campaign described the Madison Square Garden rally as “historic” with a star-studded list of speakers including SpaceX’s Elon Musk, retired professional wrestler Hulk Hogan, former Fox News host Tucker Carlson, TV personality Dr. Phil McGraw, and UFC chief executive Dana White; with additional speakers including former Democrats Tulsi Gabbard and Robert F. Kennedy Jr., House Speaker Mike Johnson, former NYC Mayor Rudy Giuliani, Senior Trump advisors Dan Scavino and Stephen Miller, as well as several of Mr. Trump’s children.

In a surprise appearance, Trump’s wife Melania Trump introduced her husband, marking her first public political speech of this campaign cycle. Mrs. Trump has largely stayed away from campaigning this year, appearing with her husband only a handful of times throughout his latest presidential run. Trump’s speech included topics regarding immigration, his deportation plans, crime and the border.

Meanwhile, Kamala Harris campaigned in Philadelphia, making stops in the western and northern parts of the city included speaking at a church service, visiting a barbershop and stopping at a Puerto Rican restaurant.

A new CBS News poll has the two presidential candidates neck and neck with nine days until Election Day, with Vice President Kamala Harris at 50% and Trump at 49% among likely voters. In battleground states, both are polling at 50%.

Appeals court backs restoring purged voters in Virginia

On Sunday, a federal appeals court refused to throw out a lower court order that ordered recently purged voters restored in Virginia, setting up a possible U.S. Supreme Court appeal.  In a court filing Friday, Republican Gov. Glenn Youngkin and state Attorney General Jason Miyares, also a Republican, indicated in their motion the state planned to ask the Supreme Court to lift the injunction this week if the appeals court did not do so. U.S. District Judge Patricia Giles ruled on that motion that the move would be too disruptive to administer with just over a week until Election Day.

The decision by the 4th US Circuit Court of Appeals (comprised of Democratic Fourth Circuit Judges Albert Diaz, Toby Heyten and Stephanie Thacker) said they are “unpersuaded” by lawyers for Republican Gov. Glenn Youngkin seeking to block an injunction obtained by U.S. Justice Department and civil rights groups.

According to court filings, about 1,600 people were removed from voter rolls in an Aug. 7 executive order from Youngkin. The appeals judges said neither the court nor the parties knew whether the people removed from the rolls “were in fact non-citizens” with at least some “eligible voters” had their registration canceled and didn’t know this was done. The three-judge panel’s order stressed that Virginia officials “remain able to prevent noncitizens from voting by canceling registrations on an individualized basis or prosecuting any noncitizen who votes.”

The ruling now sets up a Supreme Court fight over the purge program with early voting already underway in Virginia. Another federal court on Aug. 16 issued a similar ruling blocking a voter removal program in Alabama.

There are some things Russell Dickerson just won't sing about: 'That ain't my story'

Russell Dickerson‘s a firm believer in sticking to who he is, and that extends to his artistry and musical output.

“I feel like I just keep leaning in and, like, not caring about this or that or who’s cool or what’s that,” Russell tells ABC Audio. “I’m just like, there’s only one me, and that’s like always what I’ve stuck to.”

“That’s what started working for me in the first place,” he says. “So, just keep on RD-ing.”

Keeping on “RD-ing” also means being selective about the things he sings about, even if they’re not what you usually hear in country songs.

“You know, you hear a bunch of like, oh, whiskey, breakup, blah-blah songs. And I’m just like, ‘That’s just not, that ain’t my story. It’s not my vibe,'” he notes. “I’m just out here trying to spread positivity.”

Russell’s latest single, “Bones,” is making its way up the country charts. You can find it on his five-track Bones The EP, out now.

Brett Young drops his latest song, ‘Say Less’

Brett Young has released his latest song ‘Say Less’, co-written by Young alongside Ben Caver and Justin Ebach and the follow-up to ‘Goodnight Into Good Morning’, which was released in July.

‘Say Less’ explores the topic of a couple that have been together for years, giving them telepathic-like abilities to know what the other is thinking. Shares Young of the song: “‘Say Less’ is a song about two people in a relationship being on the same page, wanting the same things and being completely in sync. We wanted to write something that was fun and sexy but still had a heartfelt romantic side to it. This song is about a couple that completely gets each other and prefers time alone together over a night out on the town.”

Young is currently on the road in the US through November, with special guests Restless Road, Tyler Braden, Hannah McFarland and Owen Riegling.  For the full list of dates and ticketing information, visit brettyoungmusic.com/tour.
