It's not cerebral, its visceral: How 'Messed Up as Me' connected with Keith Urban

“Messed Up as Me” is not just another song for Keith Urban. Though he didn’t write it, Keith says its lyrics resonated so much with him that he knew recording it was imperative.

“Any song that says, ‘When I get blue, I get dark blue’? I’m in. I was in right from that line. I went, ‘Tell me more. I know this guy. Tell me this,'” Keith shares. “‘When I get gone, I get real gone’? Oh my God. ‘When I get it wrong’? I mean, it’s just a true song. It’s a true song.”

Bringing the storyline to life in a music video wasn’t the easiest. It took “a long time to edit and put together” because Keith “wanted to capture that same kind of truth.”

“I’m very interested to see people’s reaction,” he says of the visualizer, before expounding on the connection he has with “Messed Up as Me.”

“This is one of those songs that grabbed me, you know?” says Keith. “If I’m going to do a song that I didn’t write, it’s got to grab me. It can’t be a cerebral thing. It’s got to be visceral.”

“It just speaks to me, and [‘Messed Up as Me’] definitely did,” he adds.

“Messed Up as Me” is currently #15 on the country charts.

Its music video, which features late-night footage of Nashville’s Lower Broadway and more, is out now.

Tucker Wetmore's multigenre list of influences includes Chris Stapleton

If you’ve heard Tucker Wetmore‘s music, you know it’s not straight-up traditional country.

That, in part, is because of his upbringing, which comprises a multigenre list of musical influences.

“I was inspired by a lot of different artists and genres,” says Tucker. “I grew up kind of a mutt when it came to music.”

“When it came to reggae, rock, pop, hip hop, country, I kind of just listened to it all,” the rising singer/songwriter says. “Anyone from people like J Boog, Otis Redding or Chris Stapleton.”

Tucker’s debut single, “Wind Up Missin’ You,” is now approaching the top 10 of the country charts.

For tickets to catch Tucker on his ongoing headlining Waves on a Sunset Tour, visit tuckerwetmore.com.

Jon Pardi has a 'hot girl warning' tag on 'Friday Night Heartbreaker'

Looking for some dating advice in the form of a country song? Look no further than Jon Pardi‘s “Friday Night Heartbreaker.”

“‘Friday Night Heartbreaker’ is a very cool song. It's something that caught my ear when I first heard it. I love the, you know, I call it like the hot girl warning – the heartbreaker, the stay-away-from-this-girl-even-though-you're-probably-going-to-try-to-talk-to-her,” Jon tells the press.

“It's kind of a fun song. I feel like girls really like that kind of stuff,” says the “Last Night Lonely” singer. “And it's kind of spooky sounding, rock ‘n’ roll country.”

“Friday Night Heartbreaker” previews Jon’s forthcoming as-yet-untitled Mr. Saturday Night follow-up.

Fatherhood's been a 'major, major blessing' to Parker McCollum

Parker McCollum has been a dad for almost three months now and to him, fatherhood has been a “major, major blessing.”

“It's just been so good. Hallie Ray's healthy and feeling great. And, you know, Major‘s starting to smile a little bit and I get to give him a little bottle every now and then, which is cool,” Parker shares with the press.

“Every time I hold him, he starts to get fussy and I don't really have the touch yet. So the bottle helps with that,” the “Pretty Heart” singer notes.

“But man, it's just been so good and everybody was right. It took a few weeks for me to kind of get it and for me to really get over the fact that it's going to be different from here on out,” says Parker. “I was kind of freaked out there for a little while. Man, everybody was right.”

“It's the greatest thing in the world,” he adds. “That's my boy.”

Parker’s slowing things down for the rest of the year with five remaining shows on his tour schedule. But he’ll ramp things up in January for his What Kinda Man Tour, which kicks off Jan. 23 in Athens, Georgia.

You can check out a full list of dates at parkermccollum.com.

Parker’s currently climbing up the country charts with his new single, “What Kinda Man.”
