1 person killed, nine others hospitalized in Maryland mass shooting

A shooting in Baltimore County, Maryland, Tuesday left one person dead and nine others wounded, police said.

Baltimore County Police Department officials responded to the area of Loch Raven Boulevard in Towson around 7:15 p.m. following multiple reports of a shooting, and confirmed in a post on X that the incident took place on Tuesday, Dec. 17, shortly before 7:15 p.m. local time. Baltimore County police wrote in an update on X: “9 people have been transported to area hospitals 1 person is deceased. Around 7:15 p.m. officers responded to the scene following multiple reports of a shooting. This is considered a mass shooting.”

The Baltimore Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives also responded to the scene, the agency confirmed to ABC News. Baltimore County Executive Johnny Olszewski called the event a shocking tragedy: “This type of violence is rare in Baltimore County. This is an incident that is shocking, particularly for those of us in Baltimore County. These types of incidents are really unheard of here, so it really shocks the conscience.”

Baltimore County Police Chief Robert McCullough later shared at a press conference that one person died at the scene and nine others were taken to local hospitals with injuries, and that authorities believe the incident was targeted: “When officers arrived, they found a vehicle on its side and in flames. Multiple victims were discovered, and the fire department was alerted to provide assistance. This appears to be intentional. We believe the individuals involved knew each other, and there is no ongoing threat to the public.”

The investigation is still in its early stages. Police are trying to piece together what led to the crash and shooting. Evidence of gunfire was found on the façade of a nearby building, and shell casings were recovered from the area.

John Morgan hopes to 'shoot a buck' in the North Star State this Christmas

John Morgan‘s changing up his Christmas plans this year as he buckles up for a drive to the North Star State from Music City.

“But this year, we’re going out to my wife’s family in Minnesota, so I’ll be in the great white tundra, hopefully trying to shoot a buck in the woods somewhere,” he shares.

“Thanksgiving we do in Chattanooga, so not too far of a drive for that one,” he says. “But Christmas is a little bit of a haul.”

Meanwhile, you can find John and his superstar buddy Jason Aldean in the top 20 of the country charts with their single, “Friends Like That.”

Josh Groban has teamed up with the country duo The War and Treaty for their version of the holiday classic, “Do You Hear What I Hear?”

The visualizer features Groban and Michael and Tanya Trotter — the married couple who comprise The War and Treaty –  recording the song in the studio.

Groban shared in a statement he first met the couple at the Stand Up for Heroes benefit concert: “We pledged that we would find the right song to collaborate on and we’re so excited to sing a Christmas song we’ve all loved since we were little. We wanted to give it a new and fresh interpretation and I love what came out of it. Singing with them is an experience I’ll always cherish and hope everyone loves it as much as we did in the studio.”

Michael and Tanya added, “Josh Groban is our brother. [We] believe in this day and age people are looking for family connections. From the first moment we met it felt like we’d known one another forever. His voice is one to study and will be studied for generations to come. His class and dignity shine bright much like his character, but his smile and laughter is a smile you wanna always see and a laugh you want to always hear.”

Why Cody Johnson's a big fan of Christmas music

With a Christmas album of his own, it’s no secret that Cody Johnson loves holiday music.

“We all know that Christmas is about the birth of Jesus. But like, who doesn't love singing ‘Frosty The Snowman’? Sitting around drinking hot chocolate, it’s like, I’ve always felt like it takes me back to being a kid,” Cody shares in a press interview.

“And now, being a dad watching my kids? I'm like, ‘Dude, Christmas music is its own thing,'” he says.

Cody explains, “A lot of people say, ‘Oh, it's mundane and they play it too much,’ and, ‘It starts in October and doesn't stop till January.’ But it's like its own genre.”

Johnson’s also a fan of the genre-agnostic factor of Christmas music and how it welcomes many artists to its festive table, or studio.

“It's really cool and everybody gets to do it. I don't care whether you're a rap artist, rock artist, country, jazz,” says Cody. “Everybody does Christmas music, which I think is pretty special.”

Cody recently performed “White Christmas” and “I’ll Be Home for Christmas” on ABC’s CMA Country Christmas. If you missed the show, you can stream it now on Hulu and Disney+.
