How a crush on an attached girl inspired Josh Ross' 'Single Again'

Josh Ross may be a chart-topping artist in Canada, but that hasn’t immediately translated to success in the U.S. market.

Fortunately, his stateside career is now picking up steam thanks to “Single Again,” which is currently in the top 30 and ascending the country charts.

“‘Single Again’ is definitely the one that’s done the most and it’s been cool to watch it grow week after week,” said Josh, who also co-wrote the track.

“I’m just happy it’s a true story. It’s a song that came from a real place and it’s a fun one too,” he shared. “I’ve always been kind of known for the emotional kind of sad songs, so this one feels good.”

“Single Again” is a true example of art imitating life for Josh.

“I had the idea for ‘Single Again’ since 2019-ish time. I had gone to a bar and I saw a girl that I always admired and had a crush on, honestly, and went to buy her drink. She had a boyfriend, so it didn’t work out. But I was feeling good,” Josh recalled. “I had a quick conversation. I just said, ‘Yeah, let me know if you’re ever single again.'”

“That idea stuck with me for a long time and about a year ago we wrote that and put it out,” the 2024 CMA Jeff Walker Global Country Artist Award recipient told ABC Audio in a mid-November interview.

“It’s just cool to see it move,” Josh adds. “And we just finished up the Single Again Tour and watching, you know, from show one four months ago to this past weekend, how much that song has grown on the road has been really cool.”

Kenny Chesney adds three shows to newly-announced 2025 Las Vegas Sphere residency

Due to popular demand, Kenny Chesney has added three dates to his forthcoming Sphere Las Vegas residency, expanding his run of shows from 12 to 15 this summer.

Chesney had announced his residency at the Sphere in Las Vegas will kick off on Thursday, May 22, making history as the first country artist and the fifth overall to perform at the world’s most innovative venue, joining the lineup of artists who have headlined the 17,600-seat venue including: U2, Dead & Company, Eagles, Phish, and Afterlife Presents Anyma.

Chesney said of the residency: “I’m always looking for ways to deepen the way No Shoes Nation experiences this music. Over the years, they have shown me through their own response to these songs how passionate they are about what they mean, how these songs are part of their lives. When people give you that much heart, I want to give them even more. When we started talking about all of the possibilities playing Sphere offered, I was all in. Just the idea of 4D technology and the impossibly dialed in sound raises the experience for No Shoes Nation, literally immersing them in music, visuals, sound and being together. To me, this is going to be a whole new way of rocking the fans, and I can’t wait.”

Chesney said he agreed to the residency without ever actually attending a concert at the venue: “When we started talking, I flew to Vegas with my key tour team. We stood on the floor as they ran the film of U2’s show, and we were completely consumed. We could see the band, but it was so much more than that. It almost took what they were doing and multiplied it by another dimension,” Chesney added. “Knowing how much intensity our shows generate, my mind started thinking about all the things we could do. Once you see how the show wraps all the way around you, the dreaming begins.”

Tickets go on sale to the general public on Friday, January 31st starting at 10 am PT. Head HERE for more information.

Miley Cyrus planning visual concept album ‘Something Beautiful’

Miley Cyrus revealed she will release an experimental visual album in 2025 titled Something Beautiful, with the 31-year-old sharing during an interview featured in Harper’s Bazaar‘s December ‘24/January ‘25 Art Issue that the songs will take inspiration from the project’s visuals.

Cyrus said of the project: “It was important for me that every song has these healing sound properties. The songs, whether they’re about destruction or heartbreak or death, they’re presented in a way that is beautiful, because the nastiest times of our life do have a point of beauty. They are the shadow, they are the charcoal, they are the shading. You can’t have a painting without highlights and contrast.”

Cyrus added that the project was inspired by Pink Floyd — The Wall: “My idea was making The Wall, but with a better wardrobe and more glamorous and filled with pop culture.”  The project will be Cyrus’ ninth studio album; a release date has not yet been announced.

Luke Combs previews unreleased life-inspired song in Australia

Luke Combs surprised Australian fans with a performance of an unreleased song while on his stadium tour Down Under.

Strumming an acoustic guitar onstage in Brisbane, Luke sang “Pushin’ Up Daisies,” a song about surviving an accident and having a second chance at life to do things right.

“That trooper said, ‘I don’t know how you walked away/ Boy, you’re lucky, this sure could have gone the other way’/ Oh, all the life I would’ve missed out on/ Kids screaming, ‘Daddy’s back home,’ and growing old with their mom/ Oh, I don’t miss my wild and crazy/ Out here picking wildflowers for my baby/ Instead of pushin’ up daisies,” Luke sings in the reflective number.

This isn’t the first time Luke teased “Pushin’ Up Daisies.”

During the event launch of his Country Music Hall of Fame exhibit in September last year, Luke shared the song with attendees and posted a clip on Instagram.

“I wrote this song with @imjoshphillips and @randymontana sometime last year. It's been stuck in my head for sometime now,” he captioned his Reel. “Might be good, might be bad. I don't know, but I like it. It's called ‘Pushin' Up Daisies.'”

Luke’s latest album, Fathers & Sons, arrived in June.

'BIRDS WIN': And Zach Bryan fans win new song

Zach Bryan has dropped a new track, “Blue Jean Baby,” to celebrate the Philadelphia Eagles’ victory over the Washington Commanders on Sunday.

“BIRDS WIN. [‘Blue Jean Baby’] OUT AT MIDNIGHT. SEE YALL IN NEW ORLEANS,” Zach shares on Instagram, celebrating that the Eagles are heading to the 2025 Super Bowl for a face-off with the Kansas City Chiefs.

“Blue Jean Baby” finds Zach yearning for the companionship of his “blue jean” girls, despite knowing it’s a fleeting and temporal romance.

“There’s a part of the night when things quiet down/ The air gets thick and I can hear the sound/ Of silence, I’ve been on my own/ And summer was fine, I’ll see you in New Year’s Eve/ Come back to bed ‘fore you up and leave/ There’s a barely lit cigarette burnin’ a hole/ In your blue jeans,” Zach sings in the chorus.

If you’re wondering why “Blue Jean Baby” doesn’t sound like a fully produced track, Zach says it “was a demo turned into a half song that people have been asking for a long time.”

“Praying no one expects anything more than that out of it,” he shares in an Instagram Story.

And if you’re wondering if Zach’s dropping a new project in 2025, rest assured – he is.

“EP AND ALBUM BY THE END OF THE YEAR,” the singer says in an Instagram post.

Zach’s latest albums are 2024’s The Great American Bar Scene and a live record, 24 (Live).
