Nashville Notes: New music from Runaway June, Just Jayne, Belle Frantz + Kelleigh Bannen

Country trio Runaway June has dropped a romantic ode, “To Be Yours.” And that’s not all. Lead singer Stevie Woodward also announced her engagement to boyfriend Jordan Howell. “At the time that we wrote ‘To Be Yours,’ I was talking to my boyfriend about, do we want kids one day or do we not? And I was thinking, ‘If we weren't lucky enough to have a family, I would be happy just to be yours,'” Stevie recalls. Bandmate Jennifer Wayne adds, “‘To Be Yours' is just a beautiful love song and one of our favorite songs that we've written together. Natalie [Stovall] and I felt like it was a gift from God, except that it was a gift from Stevie!”

Another all-girl trio’s released a new song, and that’s Just Jayne. The new group, comprising Taylor Edwards, Rachel Wiggins and Jillian Steele, has rolled out their debut track, “This Morning,” a response to Morgan Wallen‘s “Last Night.” “It tells the story of that person you keep going back to over and over again and finally waking up one day and realizing you deserve better – taking the driver’s seat and saying IT’S OVER!!!!!” Just Jayne shares.

Universal Music Group Nashville’s Belle Frantz‘s Landman-featured song, “Do Ya,” is out now on digital platforms. “When I heard I was going to get a song in a show including actors such as Billy Bob, Demi Moore, and so many others, I was completely floored,” says Belle. “Then hearing the song for the first time on the show almost didn't feel real. I had my dog curled up next to me and it just came on. Definitely a pinch me moment.”

Kelleigh Bannen has teamed with Lady A‘s Charles Kelley on her new tune, “Nothin On.” “It's about that kind of cosmic chemistry that you can't run from. No matter how much you try to move on,” Kelleigh says of her song. “AND I cannot imagine anyone slaying this performance like Charles does. His voice is absolutely undeniable, and I'm so honored he'd sing it with me.”

Old Dominion's 'Making Good Time' as Ryman Residency wraps

Old Dominion wrapped their 7 For 7 Ryman Residency on Thursday with $1.25 million raised for seven charities, including MusiCares, Opry Trust Fund, CMA Foundation and St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.

“At a time when charitable organizations are doing more with less, we all felt it was really important to support organizations that we know take care of people who need it,” the group said.

To celebrate that, the CMA vocal group of the year dropped their new track, “Making Good Time.”

“[‘Making Good Time’] captures the spark of who every guy in this band was when we started chasing this dream,” says frontman Matthew Ramsey. “The journey is just so crazy you can't believe it when its happening to you. But also, no matter what happens, you never forget it.”

And that’s not all.

Old Dominion also unintentionally teased more headlining shows this year, with a tour announcement set for Feb. 19.

“Sometimes you get so caught up in the moment, you get carried away,” Matthew said with a laugh. “I didn't realize I was going to do it, but then I did. And then it was out there. At least, the news that we'd be doing a real tour, playing our own shows and making it a night for the Odies.”

Meanwhile, Old Dominion’s Nashville bar, Odie’s, is opening its doors soon. To find out when it’ll officially open, follow Oldie’s Instagram.

What Brett Young's 'Tastes Like You' is really about

Brett Young has dropped a new breakup track, “Tastes Like You.”

Co-written by Brett, it tells the tale of a guy who can’t shake off signs and memories of his old flame.

“And it tastes like/ Kentucky bourbon on your lips/ Fingers laced behind my neck/ The way my name rolled off your kiss/ Still gets me/ Burnin’ like Mulholland nights/ Kissin’ salt air off your skin/ Parked above the city lights
How do I/ I go there with somebody new/ Can’t even have a drink or two/ It doesn’t matter what I do/ It still tastes like you,” Brett broods in the chorus.

“‘Tastes Like You’ is about not being able to get over somebody after a breakup because they are attached to all of your favorite things,” the singer explains. “They are in every place and every thing.”

Brett’s stripped-down Back To Basics World Tour kicks off Thursday, Feb. 13, in Springfield, Illinois. For tickets and a full list of dates, head to brettyoungmusic.com.

Hear Jelly Roll + Brandon Lake's 'Hard Fought Hallelujah'

Hit Christian artist Brandon Lake has tapped Jelly Roll for a collab version of “Hard Fought Hallelujah.”

The track, which hit #1 on Billboard‘s Hot Christian Songs chart, tells the story of someone who chooses to praise God and pray despite their struggles and the heavy weight of their “head, heart, and hands.”

“I’ll bring my hard-fought, heartfelt/ Been-through-hell hallelujah/ I’ll bring my storm-tossed, torn-sail/ Story-to-tell hallelujah, whoa-oh/ God, You’ve been patient/ God, You’ve been gracious/ Faithful, whatever I’m feeling or facing/ I’ll bring my hard-fought, heartfelt, it-is-well hallelujah, oh/ Hallelujah, hallelujah,” Jelly and Brandon sing in the chorus.

“I know God’s got a lot more to do with me,” Jelly tells Brandon in a video promoting their song. “I know that. I know I got a long way to go. And I know that my heart was only to share the faith that changed my life.”

“I might wear it a little different than other people, I might say things that other Christians don’t think or like to say,” he adds. “But ultimately, I have a heart for God and I have a heart for Jesus.”

Singing about personal struggles and faith is not new to Jelly. His songs “Son of a Sinner,” “Save Me,” “Need a Favor” and “I Am Not Okay” also highlight Jelly’s life challenges and contain God references.

This isn’t Brandon’s first collab with a country artist. In 2023, he released a live version of “Talking to Jesus” with Thomas Rhett from their performance at Nashville’s Ryman Auditorium.

Scotty McCreery enlists Jason Crabb for 'Red Letter Blueprint'

Scotty McCreery has enlisted Grammy-winning Christian artist Jason Crabb for a duet rendition of “Red Letter Blueprint.”

The faith-based number encourages listeners to turn to God and the Bible during hard times, even if they’ve been far away from prayer, because “ain’t it just like Jesus to keep his arms wide open?”

“Where can you go when you ain’t getting nowhere?/ Every turn is a dead-end road/ The rain starts to fall, and you’re so lost out there/ Really only one place I know/ When your whole world falls to pieces/ And you don’t know how to build it back/ There’s a red letter blueprint in King James black,” Scotty and Jason sing in the chorus.

“Jason's voice is just out of this world powerful,” Scotty says in a statement. “When he sings, you can feel the emotion in every note and the belief in every word. I'm a fan, and it's an honor to have him sing this song with me.”

“I'm so excited to be joining my friend Scotty on such an incredible song as ‘Red Letter Blueprint,'” Jason adds. “His talent is beyond compare, and he's one of the greatest guys I've ever had the pleasure of working with. It's an honor to be singing alongside him, and I can't wait to play this song live for everyone next week on the Grand Ole Opry stage.”

Scotty and Jason are set to perform at the Grand Ole Opry in Nashville on Tuesday. Tickets are available now at opry.com.

You can find the standard version of “Red Letter Blueprint” on Scotty’s latest album, Rise & Fall. The project’s second single, “Fall of Summer,” is now in the top 30 of the country charts.

'In Case You Missed It': Jordan Davis has a new song out

Jordan Davis‘ new song, “In Case You Missed It,” has arrived.

Jordan wrote it with Paul DiGiovanni, Travis Wood and his brother Jacob Davis, and it’s an uptempo track that finds a guy thinking about potentially getting back with his hometown flame.

“In case you're ever wonderin'/ Thought I'd let you know/ If you get to second guessin'/ And get to missin' home/ Or ever feel like takin' a trip down memory lane/ Things round here are different/ But some stayed the same/ Like that sunrise, through those blinds/ From your side of a king size/ Yeah, this ol' heart of mine's right where you left it/ In case you missed it,” Jordan sings in the chorus.

“In Case You Missed It” joins “Know You Like That” and lead single “I Ain’t Sayin'” as early previews of Jordan’s forthcoming new album, which has yet to be titled.

Jordan’s currently in Australia and New Zealand opening for Luke Combs, with his next stateside show slated for Feb. 28 in Durant, Oklahoma.

Israeli PM Benjamin Netanyahu meets with congressional leaders on Capitol Hill

On Thursday, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu met with congressional leaders on Capitol Hill, coming shortly after his meeting with President Trump in which it was announced at a joint press conference that the United States plans to “take over” the Gaza Strip.

Netanyahu met Thursday with Senate Majority Leader John Thune and a bipartisan group of senators. “We had a good discussion about Israel security and about the imperative of the return of the rest of the hostages,” said Thune who also told reporters that the president “wants to bring a more peaceful and secure Middle East, and he’s putting some ideas out there. ” Appearing alongside the group of senators before the meeting,  Netanyahu simply replied “no” when asked whether U.S. troops are needed in Gaza,

House Speaker Mike Johnson, who also met with Netanyahu at the Capitol on Thursday, has defended Trump’s Gaza proposal, stating that the announcement “was greeted by surprise by many, but cheer by I think people all around the world. He’s taking bold decisive action to try to ensure the peace of that region, ” adding that “we’ve got to stand unequivocally” with Israel.

Federal judge temporarily pauses Trump administration’s federal worker buyouts

A federal judge temporarily blocked the Trump administration’s offer of buyouts to federal workers, after labor unions challenged it. US District Judge George O’Toole said in the brief hearing that the pause will allow both sides to submit arguments. Thursday, February 6 was the deadline for employees to accept the controversial packages; workers will now have until Monday, February 10 to accept the deal, giving more time to weigh the offer.

Per NBC NEWS, the pause stems from a lawsuit that the American Federation of Government Employees and several other unions filed in US District Court in Massachusetts on Tuesday seeking a temporary restraining order to halt the February 6 deadline. The unions also want to “require the government to articulate a policy that is lawful, rather than an arbitrary, unlawful, short-fused ultimatum which workers may not be able to enforce.”

The buyouts promises employees eight months of pay and benefits in exchange for leaving the federal workforce; but numerous provisions in the contract for the offer undercut those claims, saying employees could still have to work and may be barred from outside employment. More than 60,000 federal workers have already accepted the package, an administration official told CNN on Thursday.

American Federation of Government Employees (AFGE) president Everett Kelley said in a statement: “We are pleased the court temporarily paused this deadline while arguments are heard about the legality of the deferred resignation program. We continue to believe this program violates the law, and we will continue to aggressively defend our members’ rights.”
