Chief Cares is building a 'haven' for victims of Hurricane Helene

Eric Church has broken ground on one of the big ways he aims to help those devastated by Hurricane Helene in September 2024: new housing.

The Blue Haven housing development is located in Avery County, North Carolina, and is funded by Chief Cares, the nonprofit Eric and his wife, Katherine Church, founded in 2013.

“The land we stand on today sits in the heart of a county that has meant so much to me,” Eric said at the groundbreaking on Friday. “This is a place my family and I are proud to call home. … Mountain people, my people.”

The goal is to build 45 houses, which are a mix of one-, two- and three-bedroom floorpans. Selected families will be able to live there for three years and get help with housing expenses as they get on their feet. After that, they’ll have the option to buy the homes with help from Chief Cares.

The first families are expected to be able to move in by late summer of this year.

Dolly Parton‘s counting down to the kickoff of this year’s Flower & Food Festival at Dollywood on Friday, April 18.

“If there's one thing I know about the Smokies, it's that God does some of his best handiwork this time of year,” she observes. “It's like the mountains come back to life in the spring with all of His beautiful creations blooming around us.”

Post Malone has 'probably 35 songs' for his next album

Post Malone‘s 2024 album, F-1 Trillion, was a huge hit and he’s already working on another.

Speaking to Billboard, Posty says he’s “made probably 35 songs” for the project, adding, “It's just a matter of which one's rock, and which one's sock.”

Like F-1 Trillion, it will be a country album. Explaining why his first official foray into the genre was such a success, Post says, “I think finally bringing the fun back into what I was doing really showed on the record. And I think a lot of folks had fun listening to it. And we're going to attempt to do it again. I'm excited to keep going.”

“I sit there and listen to these songs, and I usually hate listening to my music, but listening to the band play, I get so excited,” he shared.

And since Posty has released a new album every year since 2022, does this mean the new album he’s working on is coming out this year?

“Hopefully, we'll have some music releasing very, very soon,” he teases.

New music wasn’t on Posty’s set during Coachella on Sunday night, however. It included tracks from across his entire career, including “White Iverson,” “Wow,” “rockstar,” “Circles,” “Sunflower” and “I Had Some Help.” He kicks off his Big A** Stadium Tour with Jelly Roll on April 29.

Suspect in custody after overnight fire at Pennsylvania Gov. Josh Shapiro’s home

Pennsylvania State Police said during a news conference that a person is in custody regarding the fire set to Pennsylvania Gov. Josh Shapiro’s official residence in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania on Sunday.  Police had stated that the arsonist had caused a “significant amount of damage” to Shapiro’s home.  Shapiro said during a news conference that he, his wife, their four children, two dogs and another family that had celebrated Passover on Saturday were inside the home when they were awakened by state troopers.

Pennsylvania State Police Col. Christopher Paris said at a Sunday afternoon news conference that they have identified the man in custody as Cody Balmer, 38, of Harrisburg, PA. Balmer is said to have used a homemade incendiary device and evaded police who knew there had been a breach, with authorities stating that the suspect hopped over a fence surrounding the property and forcibly entered the residence before setting it on fire.

Dauphin County District Attorney Francis Chardo said that forthcoming charges will include attempted murder, terrorism, attempted arson and aggravated assault, and emphasized that the investigation into the fire is ongoing.

PA State Police had earlier said in a statement: “On April 13, 2025, at approximately 2:00 a.m., members of the Harrisburg Bureau of Fire responded to the Governor’s Residence, located on North Front Street, Harrisburg City, Dauphin County, for the report of a fire. While the investigation is ongoing, the State Police is prepared to say at this time that this was an act of arson. While the fire was successfully extinguished, it caused a significant amount of damage to a portion of the residence. The Governor and his family were present in a different part of the residence. They were evacuated safely and were not injured. There is a reward of up to $10,000 offered through PSP Tips for the arrest and conviction for the individual(s) responsible. Anyone with information should call 1-800-4PA TIPS (1-800-472-8477). No additional information will be released at this time. However, this is a fast-moving investigation, and details will be provided as appropriate.

In a statement posted to social media, Shapiro wrote: “Last night at about 2AM, my family and I woke up to bangs on the door from the Pennsylvania State Police after an arsonist set fire to the Governor’s Residence in Harrisburg. The Harrisburg Bureau of Fire was on the scene and while they worked to put out the fire, we were evacuated from the Residence safely by Pennsylvania State Police and assisted by Capitol Police. Thank God no one was injured and the fire was extinguished. Every day, we stand with the law enforcement and first responders who run towards danger to protect our communities. Last night, they did so for our family – and Lori and I are eternally grateful to them for keeping us safe. @PAStatePolice is on the scene leading this investigation and will keep the public updated.”

The Governor and his wife share four children together, Sophia, Jonah, Max and Reuben (Sophia and Jonah are legal adults, and Max and Rueben are minors). Just hours before the attack on the residence, the governor – who is Jewish – offered Passover well wishes and shared a photo of his Seder table on social media, writing on X: “From the Shapiro family’s Seder table to yours, happy Passover and Chag Pesach Sameach!

Pennsylvania Attorney General Dave Sunday said in an X post that he was “relieved” the governor and his family were safe, adding that “the Office of Attorney General stands ready with any resources needed to find the culprit of this senseless act of violence.”

White House releases results of President Trump’s physical, stating he ‘remains in excellent health’

The White House released the results of President Trump’s annual physical on Sunday, with White House physician Capt. Sean Barbabella detailing in a memo that the president remains in “excellent health.” The president underwent his annual physical at Walter Reed National Military Medical Center on Friday, which included diagnostic and laboratory testing.

Trump, 78, had his last known comprehensive examination in September 2023, in which he released limited details. Mr. Trump’s last annual physical as president occurred in June 2020, with the White House stating he weighed 244 pounds, and his blood pressure was 121/79.  Trump’s latest physical states that the president weighs 224 pounds, and his blood pressure was 128/74.

Trump exhibits “robust cardiac, pulmonary, neurological, and general physical function,” according to the report from  Barbabella, who said he also performed a comprehensive neurological examination, which revealed “no abnormalities in his mental status.”

The report revealed that Trump underwent a colonoscopy in July 2024, which “revealed diverticulosis and a benign polyp.” Gastroenterologists recommended that the president should have a follow-up colonoscopy in 2027. The president passed his Montreal Cognitive Assessment with a perfect score of 30 out of 30, the same score he received on that assessment in 2018. He was also screened for depression and anxiety and had “scores within the normal range for both,” and Barbabella noted in his diagnostic summary that Trump has scarring on his right hear from a gunshot wound, referring to the assassination attempt on the president in Butler, Pennsylvania, last summer.

Barbabella concluded that: “President Trump’s days include participation in multiple meetings, public appearances, press availability, and frequent victories in golf events. President Trump exhibits excellent cognitive and physical health and is fully fit to execute the duties of the Commander-in-Chief and Head of State.”

Jordan Davis couldn't get enough of 'Bar None'

Jordan Davis was just named artist-writer of the year by the Association for Independent Music Publishers, so it’s a bit ironic that he didn’t happen to write his new single.

Instead, it came to him the old-fashioned way: a songwriter sent him a demo of it.

“‘Bar None’ is a song that was sent to me,” Jordan explains. “A song that truly from the demo just kind of stood out as different. Right off the bat, it kind of pulled me in, something I wanted to hear more of.”

“[I’m] glad we cut it, [and I] love the way it turned out. It’s a little different for me,” he adds, “but something I'm excited about [playing] live.”

Jordan will have plenty of chances as he sets out on his Ain’t Enough Road Tour this fall.

“Bar None” is the follow-up to his eighth #1, “I Ain’t Sayin.'”
