Kendrick Lamar and SZA share video for “Luther”

Kendrick Lamar and SZA have dropped the video for their fan-favorite track “Luther.” The new video precedes Kendrick and SZA’s upcoming Grand National Tour, set to kick off April 19th in Minneapolis before hitting 18 more North American cities. Mustard will serve as support on tour.

The visual for Luther, directed by Karena Evans, finds both musicians in ‘separate realities’ that exist in the same setting; with the video ending with Luther Vandross and Cheryl Lynn’s cover of Marvin Gaye and Tammi Terrell’s “If This World Were Mine,” which is sampled on the chart-topping duet.  Ironically, video director Karena Evans has also previously shot the visuals for several hit Drake tracks (including “Nice For What,” “God’s Plan” and “In My Feelings.”)

“Luther” is Lamar’s sixth No. 1 and SZA’s third,  and currently sits at No. 1 on the Billboard 100 charts for its seventh week.

'Imagine That': Patsy Cline's Lost Recordings include Christmas songs + more

More than 60 years after her death in a plane crash, 48 unissued recordings by Patsy Cline are finally making their debut on Record Store Day 2025.

Imagine That: The Lost Recordings (1954-1963) is a double-disc vinyl set made up of four dozen recordings from radio broadcasts, TV shows and demos that have been meticulously restored with today’s technology.

The set was assembled with the cooperation of the Patsy Cline Estate, including her daughter, Julie Fudge.

“Our family has been blessed to have the recordings, the videos, and the photos that have remained since Mom's passing in 1963,” she reflects. “But we have been even more blessed because of the fan base that has kept her so alive.”

“Now these recordings, all fresh and new, is something like a dream,” Julie continues. “All the hard work and research, all the time and effort … all have led to something new in a world where we never thought that was possible.”

Imagine That includes live versions of Patsy’s hits like “Walkin’ After Midnight,” “I Fall to Pieces,” “Crazy” and “She’s Got You,” but also has rarities like the gospel songs “Just a Closer Walk with Thee” and “Life’s Railway to Heaven.” It also boasts the holiday tunes “Let It Snow! Let It Snow! Let It Snow!” and “Winter Wonderland,” which don’t exist among Patsy’s studio recordings.

The Record Store Day vinyl will be available Saturday, April 12, before the set becomes available on CD and streaming April 18.

Kenny Chesney shares details about visuals for Sphere Las Vegas shows

What will it look like when Kenny Chesney takes the stage at Sphere in Las Vegas in May?

We now have a bit of a clue, as the superstar revealed the Sphere creative team was “embedded” during some of last year’s Sun Goes Down shows and spent time with him “shooting footage that reflects [his] life, experience and musical meaning.”

“We didn't know when we signed on what we were signing up for,” Kenny says. “I realized every bit of video was going to have to be shot for this wraparound-the-audience screen, but I had no idea how much creating these moments – because it's so much more than content – would open up my own creative portals.”

There’s still more work to do before Kenny’s run begins on May 22.

“We have to go to California to create the final edit, so we can understand the fullness of how people will experience the visuals, how it will marry to the music,” he explains. “But just the songs we saw earlier in the year, putting the show together is going to be a complete rush.”

Kenny Chesney Live at Sphere Las Vegas is set to run through Saturday, June 21.

Hit songwriter Jacob Hackworth steps out as an artist on Tucker Wetmore's tour

As singer/songwriter Jacob Hackworth sets out on the Waves on a Sunset Tour with his buddy Tucker Wetmore, he’s also launching his first track as an artist.

Previously, Jacob wrote Tucker’s “Wine into Whiskey,” Bailey Zimmerman‘s six-week #1 “Rock and a Hard Place” and Corey Kent‘s current hit, “This Heart,” as well as several songs on Jelly Roll‘s Beautifully Broken album.

“There is a feeling of reassurance that happens when another artist cuts a song I've written … but I came to town to be an artist so I'm stoked to be releasing something that I can call my own,” Jacob says. “I've seen and experienced a lot of heartbreak throughout my life and listening to songs about hard times helped me through.”

“So, as an artist, I want to return the favor and create music that might help someone else,” he adds.

Hackworth’s debut, “When I Don’t,” is available to stream and download now.

How Tom Petty impacted Jon Pardi's 'Honkytonk Hollywood'

“Why Aren’t You Listening to Jon Pardi?” a new Esquire article asks, as it explores the making of his new album.

It also ponders why Jon doesn’t seem to have the same kind of recognition among pop fans as artists like Luke Combs and Morgan Wallen do, in spite of his six number ones and his two hits – “Head Over Boots” and “Dirt on My Boots” – which are both six-times Platinum.

“In all honesty, I don't know what country music is anymore,” Jon tells Esquire. “We got Hardy heavy-metal country, we've got Beyoncé country, Morgan Wallen country, Jelly Roll. Everybody's bringing in the stuff they grew up listening to, and it's awesome. If it's a good song and it's moving the soul and it has some semblance of country, we're stamping it country music.”

Jon goes on to reveal he’s a rock fan himself, loving artists like the Rolling Stones, Rage Against the Machine and Audioslave.

It also explores how the 2021 Tom Petty documentary Somewhere You Feel Free inspired Jon to change producers.

“He said that it helped him grow as a songwriter and a musician working with somebody new,” Jon recalls. “It was kind of like a sign — You should do it and see what happens.' “

Jon went on to work with producer Jay Joyce for the first time on Honkytonk Hollywood, which is out now. You can check out the full Esquire article online.

Shaboozey announces 'complete edition' of latest album; hear new single with Myles Smith now

Shaboozey and Myles Smith have both been on rocket ship rides to fame over the past year, so it’s fitting that the two artists would team up for a song.

Their collab, “Blink Twice,” is out now. In it, both artists seem to reference their nonstop schedules: “Oh God, would you tell me why I’m worn down to the bone?/ Even though I’ve only seen half of the world, I’m coming home.” They sing in the chorus, “No time for living a lie/ time flies, so don’t blink twice.”

The song will be included on a deluxe edition of Shaboozey’s latest album, called Where I’ve Been, Isn’t Where I’m Going: The Complete Edition. The 18-track project, due April 25, adds six new songs, including a track called “Amen” featuring Jelly Roll.

Shaboozey is set to play Coachella on Sunday, April 13. He’ll return to the same festival grounds in Indio, California, April 26 for Stagecoach, which also features Jelly, Luke Combs, Backstreet Boys, Nelly, Koe Wetzel, Dasha and Goo Goo Dolls, among dozens of other acts.

House GOP adopts budget blueprint for President Trump’s agenda

On Thursday, the House adopted a revised budget blueprint for President Trump’s agenda after Republican leaders and Speaker Mike Johnson, R-La., muscled conservative holdouts who had threatened to sink the measure. Johnson told reporters after the vote: “It’s a good day in the House. I told you not to doubt us. We’re really grateful to have had the big victory on the floor just now. It was a big one, a very important one.”

The resolution passed in a slim 216-214 vote, with just two Republicans — Reps. Thomas Massie, R-Ky., and Victoria Spartz, R-Ind. — joining all Democrats in opposition.  Trump had endorsed the budget plan, which the Senate adopted last weekend on a narrow 51-48 vote.

Shortly before the vote, Johnson appeared alongside Senate Majority Leader John Thune, R-S.D., at a joint news conference. Johnson said “our two chambers are directly aligned and committed to finding at least $1.5 trillion in savings for the American people. Our first big, beautiful reconciliation package here involves a number of commitments, and one of those is that we are committed to finding at least $1.5 trillion in savings for the American people while also preserving our essential programs.”

Thune added that the Senate is “aligned with the House in terms of what their budget resolution outlined in terms of savings. We have got to do something to get the country on a more sustainable fiscal path, and that entails us taking a hard scrub of our government figuring out where we can find those savings. The speaker’s talked about one and a half trillion dollars. We have a lot of United States senators who believe that is a minimum, and we’re certainly going to do everything we can to be as aggressive as possible to see that we are serious about the matter.”

Approving the budget plan in both chambers allows Congress to bypass the 60-vote threshold required to advance most legislation in the Senate and pass Mr. Trump’s agenda (that would open the door to implementing his border security, defense, energy priorities and extending expiring tax cuts) with a simple majority. Republican leaders in the House worked to unite their divided party behind the budget plan this week before Congress leaves town for a two-week recess.

6 killed after tour helicopter plunges into NYC’s Hudson River

Story updated: An executive of the European technology company Siemens, as well as his wife and young children, were identified as those on board the tourist helicopter that plunged into New York City’s Hudson River on Thursday, leaving no survivors.

Law enforcement sources told ABC News that Agustin Escobar, his wife, Merce Camprubi Montal, and their children — aged 4, 5 and 11 years old — have been identified as victims in the crash along with the pilot, aged 36.

Six people, including three children, were killed after a tour helicopter crashed into the Hudson River between Manhattan and the New Jersey waterfront on Thursday afternoon. The helicopter was carrying the pilot and five passengers when it crashed into the river at about 3:15 p.m. EDT (per ABC News).

The New York Post reported that witnesses saw the Bell 206 chopper “split in half” before it went down near Pier 40 on West Houston Street and West Street around 3:15 p.m., per the New York City Fire Department

Mayor Eric Adams later said at a press conference that all six were pronounced dead, adding that “our hearts go out to the family and those on board.”  NYPD Commissioner Jessica Tisch told reporters that divers with NYPD and FDNY recovered all the victims who were on board the helicopter; four people were pronounced dead at the scene, and two others were taken to the hospital, where they “succumbed to their injuries.” Tisch said that the helicopter lost control shortly after turning at the George Washington Bridge to move along the New Jersey shoreline.

Local NY affiliate WNBC shared that reports of the downed aircraft near the West Side Highway and Spring Street came in shortly after 3 p.m. Thursday. Three law enforcement sources say the helicopter is believed to have been a tour charter flying along the Hudson at the time of the crash.

According to the communications team at the Spanish Foreign Ministry, the Spanish Consulate of New York City is in touch with authorities to gather and confirm information and identification of the people involved in the helicopter crash. In addition, authorities in Spain are aware of the crash as well.

The FAA and National Transportation Safety Board says the crash remains under investigation.
