Pour me a drink: Post Malone to open bar on Nashville's Lower Broadway

In country music, you’re not a superstar until you have your own bar and restaurant on Nashville’s Lower Broadway – so welcome to the big time, Post Malone.

Posty is partnering with TC Restaurant Group, which has created establishments for stars like Morgan Wallen, Luke Combs, Luke Bryan and Miranda Lambert, for his own place at 305 Broadway. There’s no opening date or name yet.

The establishment will feature six bars, three stages, a full-service dining room and a rooftop, and will be designed around “the honky tonk grit and country soul of Lower Broadway.”

Posty, who was raised in Texas and currently lives in Utah, says in a statement, “Nashville has really become a second home for me so I can't wait to invite y'all over to my house.”

In other Post Malone news, a Boston woman told MassLive.com that she was at the bar at Raffles Hotel on May 30 celebrating her birthday when she spotted the singer, who was there with one other person. She said Posty paid her tab, as well as the tab for the 10 other people who were also in the bar.

“You hear some celebs are real a******* and then some are amazing and you just never know,” she said. “But he was being so nice and cordial to everybody and it showed when he cleared the bill for everyone.”

Tyler Hubbard, Justin Moore, Zach Top, Warren Zeiders, Priscilla Block, Chase Rice, Jordan Davis, Ashley Cooke and more competed in front of more than 8,000 fans at First Horizon Park, raising more than $670,000 for the cause.

'I Had Some Help': Darius Rucker kicks off CMA Fest 2025 with Morgan Wallen

Darius Rucker delivered the biggest country star of them all these days when he hosted his 16th annual Darius and Friends benefit at the Ryman on Monday: Morgan Wallen.

“I met this kid 5 or 6 years ago at a friend's house, and he was playing songs that blew my mind,” Darius said as he brought Morgan to the stage. “He's become a superstar. He's a good friend of mine; he's my brother.”

Luke Bryan, Tyler Braden, Lanie Gardner and Darius’ fall tour mates Kashus Culpepper and Austin Williams rounded out the lineup for the sold-out show.

In addition to playing his own country hits, Darius served up covers of ’90s classics like Tim McGraw‘s “I Like It, I Love It,” TLC‘s “Waterfalls” and Bell Biv DeVoe‘s “Poison,” as well as Amy Winehouse‘s “Valerie.”

In its previous 15 years, the benefit has raised more than $4.3 million for St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital in Memphis, with the 2025 total still to come.

FDA elevates tomato recall to highest warning level, affecting 3 states

The U.S. Food and Drug Administration has elevated an ongoing tomato recall to its highest warning level over concerns of salmonella contamination.

On May 28, the FDA designated the recall as Class 1 — its highest warning level — meaning there is a risk of “serious adverse health consequences or death.” The latest recall is for three states: Georgia, North Carolina and South Carolina.

Williams Farms Repack LLC first announced on May 2 that it was voluntarily recalling the tomatoes, which were supplied by H&C Farms, after being notified that there was a risk they had been contaminated with salmonella. The potential source of contamination was not immediately known. The FDA says no illnesses or deaths have been reported as of the recall date.

According to the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, Salmonella is a type of bacteria and one of the most common causes of fatal food borne illness in the United States.Symptoms of salmonella infection range from nonexistent in some people to diarrhea, fever, stomach pain or serious complications. Most people will recover without treatment, but high-risk groups, such as kids under 5 and the elderly, may experience more severe illness.

The Williams Farms Repack LLC recall affects nine package sizes of tomatoes sold to wholesalers and distributors in Georgia, North Carolina and South Carolina between April 23 and 28.

  •  4×5 two layer, Williams Farms Repack label, lot code R4467
  • 60 count two layer, Williams Farms Repack label, lot code R4467
  • 3 count trays, Williams Farms Repack label, lot code R4467
  • 5×6 25 pound, H&C Farms label, lot code R4467
  • 6×6 25 pound, H&C Farms label, lot codes R4467, R4470
  • Combo 25 pound, lot code R4467
  • 4×4 2 layer, lot code R4467
  • 60ct 18-pound loose, lot codes R4467, R4470
  • XL 18-pound loose, lot code R4467

Department of Education pauses Social Security garnishments for defaulted student loans

The U.S. Department of Education is pausing its plan to garnish people’s Social Security benefits if they have defaulted on their student loans (per The Hill.).

Ellen Keast, an Education Department spokesperson, said that the White House “has put a pause on any future Social Security offsets. The Trump Administration is committed to protecting Social Security recipients who oftentimes rely on a fixed income. In the coming weeks, the Department will begin proactive outreach to recipients about affordable loan repayment options and help them back into good standing.

The development is an abrupt change in policy by the administration, who previously announced on April 21 that it would resume collection on the country’s $1.6 trillion student loan portfolio beginning May 5. For nearly half a decade, the government did not go after those who’d fallen behind as part of Covid-era policies under the Biden administration.

Borrowers who owed were to receive emails from the FSA to make them aware and to instruct them to contact the agency’s Default Resolution Group to first make a monthly payment, then either enroll in an income-driven repayment plan or sign up for loan rehabilitation. Notices that informed of administrative wage garnishment were to arrive later in the summer at an unannounced date. Social Security recipients could have as much as 15% of their checks taken to pay their defaulted student loans.

The Consumer Financial Protection Bureau reported in January that around 452,000 federal student loan borrowers aged 62 and older are currently in default and most likely have begun to collect Social Security benefits.

Rascal Flatts follow the 'emotional flood' of their tour with 'Refueled Duets'

Rascal Flatts wrapped their Life Is a Highway Tour in early April, but the trio is still on a high.

“Man, it was so good to be back playing music again,” Jay DeMarcus reflects. “You know, the pandemic hit and it sort of went away and we all got away from it. And to be able to be onstage and look across and see these guys again was a really special moment for me.”

“And the fans were incredible,” he adds. “I mean, what can you say? All of it was overwhelming and an emotional flood.”

Now we’re just days away from the June 6 release of Life Is A Highway: Refueled Duets, on which the trio recreated their biggest hits with an all-star cast from multiple genres. Kelly Clarkson joins them for “I’m Movin’ On,” while Backstreet Boys help redo “What Hurts the Most.”

“All of them just have their own little beautiful color,” Joe Don Rooney says. “Kelly Clarkson’s just off-the-charts great. I mean, the Backstreet Boys is fun, you know? It’s a wall of vocals, and it’s just so special.”

“But every single artist gave their all for the song they were singing on, and you can’t ask for more,” he concludes.

While their official tour is over, Flatts continue playing a handful of festival dates this summer, with stops at Carolina Country Music Fest in Myrtle Beach June 5 and CMA Fest at Nissan Stadium June 7.

Dierks Bentley to drop 11th studio album ‘Broken Branches’ on June 13

Dierks Bentley has officially announced his 11th studio album, Broken Branches, set for release on June 13th Produced by John Randall and Ross Copperman, the album features collaborations with Riley Green, Stephen Wilson Jr., Miranda Lambert, and the legendary John Anderson.

Bentley shares: “The country music community has a lot of broken branches in it. That’s why we’re all here. We want to do something a little bit different, and I think everyone sees themselves like that—certainly in country. This is the people’s music, and it represents that spirit of individuality so well—it’s just about doing it our own way.”

The 11-track project includes also performances from standout musicians like Charlie Worsham, Jedd Hughes, Rob McNelley, and Bryan Sutton. Bentley co-wrote only four of the songs himself, and shares: “I think that’s what’s special about country—we’re still making music in the studio with our buddies. We’re still getting together, talking about the songs, and letting the musicians have a big say. It’s a good team—maybe a little messed up—but that’s the whole idea behind Broken Branches, so it just works.”

Broken Branches is due out June 13th; preorder: HERE.
