U.S. Rep. Nancy Mace announces campaign for South Carolina governor

United States Representative Nancy Mace, R-S.C., announced her run for South Carolina governor Monday morning in a bid to succeed Republican Gov. Henry McMaster.

Mace, 47, said in an announcement Monday morning at The Citadel, where she became the first woman to graduate from the Corps of Cadets program in 1999: “This morning, I’m making it official. I am running to be your governor of the great state of South Carolina. I didn’t come to join the club. They don’t want me, and I don’t want them. I came to hold the line. They said stay quiet; I spoke up. They said sit down; I stood up. They said play nice, and I fought back. This isn’t about playing defense. This is about going on offense for you — for your family, for your freedom and for your future … I wasn’t built to kiss the ring. I just wear one. I don’t answer to the establishment. I don’t owe those in the back room a single thing. I answer to the people. And the people, let me tell you, are fed up.”

Mac first came to Congress in 2021. and has since developed a reputation as a GOP firebrand in recent months.  She will run against fellow Rep. Ralph Norman, R-S.C., state Attorney General Alan Wilson, R, state Lt. Gov. Pamela Evette and state Sen. Josh Kimbrell, R, in the primary. A poll released by the South Carolina Policy Council showed Mace narrowly leading Wilson in the primary among Republican voters.

Mace told Fox News last week that she was leaning toward running for state-wide office, citing economic issues, crime and “gender-bending ideology” at colleges in the state. She also said if she launched a gubernatorial bid, she and Wilson would run a “two-man race… If I get in, I will fight to the finish, and I will take out South Carolina’s attorney general, because he’s turned a blind eye on women and on children and on the state for a lot of reasons. He might force me to do this. South Carolina is tired of the politicians who smile for the cameras, lie to your face, and then vanish when it’s time to lead.”

Carly Pearce launched her career in Texas with a song you probably don’t know

It’s easy to assume that Carly Pearce‘s debut #1 single, 2017’s “Every Little Thing,” was the beginning of her career.

But there’s another song from the previous year that helped launch her as an artist.

“You know what a lot of people don’t know about me is I got my start in Texas country music with the Josh Abbott Band,” Carly tells ABC Audio. “So I have a lot of memories when I had no money, no nothing, was like cleaning Airbnbs on the side.”

“But I had this song out with them called ‘Wasn’t That Drunk.’ So we would play at like Billy Bob’s and I would just be like on the bus as like the girl that was trying to make her dreams come true,” she remembers. “And I was like 24. So I feel like the Texas country market and especially Texas [itself] is like where I cut my teeth in the beginning.”

Back in June, Carly revealed she’s finished the vocals on her fifth album, the follow-up to 2024’s hummingbird.

All Time Low detail fall tour, share video for ‘SUCKERPUNCH’

All Time Low have shared the video for their song “SUCKERPUNCH.”

Frontman Alex Gaskarth shared: “‘SUCKERPUNCH’ is a song about getting knocked down so many times that you learn to wear your bruises like badges. The music and tone of the song are so intentionally steeped in overconfident swagger, while the lyrics tell a very different story about stepping into the ring with an opponent twice your size, waiting for the bell to ring with a smile on your face. I wanted to marry the grit and punch of an arena rock song with moments of Quincy Jones and Genesis. That culminated in a song that felt like kicking the door down, so we knew this had to come out first.”

The band have also announced a U.S. headlining tour, kicking off Oct. 4 in Missoula, Montana. The trek, which features support from Mayday Parade, The Cab, Four Year Strong and The Paradox on select dates, wraps up Nov. 29 in Wilkes-Barre, Pennsylvania. The 30-plus-date outing includes appearances at the iconic Red Rocks Amphitheatre (Oct 12), When We Were Young Festival in Las Vegas (Oct 18 + 19) and Warped Tour in Orlando (Nov 16).
