‘This Time Around,’ ‘Bubbly’ hitmaker Colbie Caillat’s a little bit country

Though she’s best known for pop hits like “Bubbly,” Colbie Caillat takes a country turn when her album of collabs arrives Friday.

In addition to duets with Walker Hayes, Lee Brice, Maddie & Tae, Mitchell Tenpenny, Hillary Scott, Chris Young, Ryan Hurd and Russell Dickerson, This Time Around includes new takes on some of her biggest songs, like 2009’s “Fallin’ For You.”

Maren [Morris] has one of my all-time favorite voices I've ever heard and now have had the privilege to sing with,” Colbie says. “I was introduced to her through my producer, Jimmy [Robbins], and the coolest part is that Maren chose ‘Fallin' For You’ to sing on. It turned out even more special than I could have imagined.”

“I've been covering Colbie’s songs since I was seventeen,” Maren reveals. “When she reached out and asked me to duet Falling For You' with her, I was having a full circle giddiness moment. She has one of the most warm, soulful voices I got to blend with, and it turned out so beautifully.”

The 12-track This Time Around also features collabs with Amos Lee, Gavin DeGraw and Jason Mraz.

Thomas Rhett takes control of his socials

Thomas Rhett is going it alone on social media these days.

“Am I doing this right?” he asks in a new Instagram post, going on to explain “my digital manager is on vacation” on a photo that shows him playing at the piano.

“I just sing and don’t know much about this,” he continues as he gives a thumbs-up standing beside what seems to be his front door.

“Hope I’m making her proud,” he adds, this time lifting a dumbbell in the gym.

“Anyways, this song comes out Friday,” he closes, posing in front of a coffee machine with a mug that says Best Dad Ever.

Indeed, TR does know a thing or two about social media posts, since he managed to set his slideshow to his new song, “On a River,” which drops Friday, along with “Water” and “Chapter 10.” Those are the final three tracks that complete the deluxe edition of his album About a Woman.

“Call Me If You Get One” follow’s Drew’s recently released tracks “Deserve Her” and “Get Me Gone” featuring Emily Ann Roberts. It follows his #1 “She’s Somebody’s Daughter” and his top-10 hit “Tough People.”

White House says Oracle will oversee TikTok security for U.S. users

Per AP News: The White House confirmed Monday that software giant Oracle would take charge of safeguarding TikTok’s U.S. operations under a pending divestment plan, including management of a licensed version of the app’s powerful recommendation algorithm.

The joint venture with Oracle will keep TikTok’s operations in the United States, with a majority control of it board of directors being Americans, as confirmed to CNN and USA Today.

The future of TikTok’s algorithm — still owned by Beijing-based ByteDance — has been a central sticking point in negotiations over whether the app can continue operating in the United States. Lawmakers and national security officials have long warned that the system, which determines what videos users see, could be exploited by the Chinese government to influence public opinion in subtle but significant ways.

The arrangement would resolve security concerns if TikTok formally separates from its parent company. The move stems from bipartisan legislation signed in the final weeks of President Joe Biden’s term, requiring ByteDance to either sell its American assets to a U.S. firm or face an outright ban.

Under the deal, Oracle would receive a licensed copy of TikTok’s algorithm, oversee its security protocols, and conduct continuous monitoring for any irregular activity. The White House official said the system would be fully inspected and then retrained with U.S. user data to ensure it performs as intended.

While it remains unclear whether retraining would effectively create a separate version of TikTok for American users, press secretary Karoline Leavitt stressed that international visibility would not be lost. “TikTok users in the U.S. will still be able to view content from overseas, and users abroad will continue to see American videos,” she told reporters.

The administration plans to formalize the arrangement later this week. Once President Trump signs an executive order endorsing the deal, China is expected to approve a parallel framework, triggering a 120-day grace period for both governments to finalize terms. The White House confirmed that the federal government will not hold an equity position in the venture or seek representation on its governing committee. Final approval of the framework agreement still depends on Chinese regulators.

‘Favorite Country Song’ is HARDY’s love letter to Philadelphia, Mississippi

HARDY‘s new album, COUNTRY! COUNTRY!, arrives on Friday, boasting a lead single that’s already a top-25 hit.

‘Favorite Country Song’ is more or less just about where I grew up and how much I love it and how much I’m fond of that and cherish what it has to provide,” the Philadelphia, Mississippi, native says.

HARDY also feels like he’s covering some new ground with his latest hit.

“I really love the soul that ‘Favorite Country Song’ has because it’s something that is a little bit different,” he reflects. “I kinda touched on it with ‘Signed, Sober You’ and a couple things, but I feel like it just shows a different part of me emotionally and vocally that I haven’t really done before.”

HARDY just released the fan favorite “Dog Years” as the final preview track before his album drops on Friday.

‘Jimmy Kimmel Live!’ returning to ABC on Tuesday after show’s suspension

ABC announced on Monday that “Jimmy Kimmel Live!” will return to the air on Tuesday night.

A spokesperson for the Walt Disney Company, which owns ABC, said in a statement: “Last Wednesday, we made the decision to suspend production on the show to avoid further inflaming a tense situation at an emotional moment for our country. It is a decision we made because we felt some of the comments were ill-timed and thus insensitive. We have spent the last days having thoughtful conversations with Jimmy, and after those conversations, we reached the decision to return the show on Tuesday.”

“Jimmy Kimmel Live!” was abruptly taken off the air last week, after Federal Communications Commission Chair Brendan Carr threatened to revoke ABC affiliate licenses over Kimmel’s comments about the MAGA movement’s response to conservative commentator Charlie Kirk’s assassination. Kirk, 31, is the founder of Turning Point USA, and was killed on Sept. 10 during an event at Utah Valley University.

Earlier on Monday, more than 400 entertainers came forward in support of Kimmel with the American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU) releasing an open letter defending Kimmel’s right to free expression. The statement, signed by hundreds of well-known actors and performers, voiced “solidarity” with both Kimmel and the ACLU’s broader defense of the First Amendment.

The letter began: “We the people must never accept government threats to our freedom of speech. Efforts by leaders to pressure artists, journalists, and companies with retaliation for their speech strike at the heart of what it means to live in a free country. Last week, Jimmy Kimmel was taken off the air after the government threatened a private company with retaliation, marking a dark moment for freedom of speech in our nation. In an attempt to silence its critics, our government has resorted to threatening the livelihoods of journalists, talk show hosts, artists, creatives, and entertainers across the board. This runs counter to the values our nation was built upon, and our Constitution guarantees.”

The letter went on to recognize others who “are also facing direct attacks on their freedom of expression,” such as “teachers, government employees, law firms, researchers, universities, students and so many more. Regardless of our political affiliation, or whether we engage in politics or not, we all love our country. We also share the belief that our voices should never be silenced by those in power – because if it happens to one of us, it happens to all of us … This is the moment to defend free speech across our nation. We encourage all Americans to join us, along with the ACLU, in the fight to defend and preserve our constitutionally protected rights.”

The list of signatories includes some of Hollywood’s most recognizable figures: Jennifer Aniston, Ben Affleck, and Tom Hanks, as well as Disney-connected stars such as Selena Gomez, Pedro Pascal, Diego Luna, Martin Short, and Meryl Streep. Others lending their names include Jason Bateman, Robert De Niro, Jane Fonda, Elizabeth Banks, Olivia Rodrigo, Ben Stiller, Jean Smart, Jamie Lee Curtis, Julia Louis-Dreyfus, Michael Keaton, Regina King, Lin-Manuel Miranda, Natalie Portman, Maya Rudolph, Mark Ruffalo, and Kerry Washington.

Andrew Alford, president of Nexstar Media’s broadcast division, called Kimmel’s remarks “offensive and insensitive at a critical time in our national political discourse”. Nexstar, the country’s largest local broadcast and digital media group, owns more than 200 TV stations across 116 markets. Alford argued that Kimmel’s commentary did not represent the views of the diverse communities Nexstar serves. “Continuing to give Mr. Kimmel a broadcast platform in the communities we serve is simply not in the public interest at the current time,” he said. “We have made the difficult decision to preempt his show in an effort to let cooler heads prevail as we move toward the resumption of respectful, constructive dialogue.”
