“Seeing Someone Else”: Ingrid Andress outgrows a relationship in her self-reflective new release

In keeping with the themes of introspection and self-work she established on her latest single, “Good Person,” Ingrid Andress has shared a new song about personal growth.

Called “Seeing Someone Else,” Ingrid's new ballad tells the story of a couple that grow apart, not because one of them falls in love with someone else, but simply because they find themselves at different places in their lives.

“I think you're seeing someone else / I think you're seeing who I used to be / I bet you wish I was the girl that you met / Out at a bar, makin' a mess, still 23,” she sings in the song’s chorus.

Both “Seeing Someone Else” and “Good Person” will be on Ingrid's forthcoming sophomore album, the follow-up to her GRAMMY-nominated Ladylike project.

She says that “Seeing Someone Else” was one of the songs on the new record that most inspired her to be creative, and look beyond the format of a traditional country ballad.

“I went a little mad scientist' and was like okay what would it sound like if we add some synth here, keep pedal steel there, but have an acoustic guitar here?” she explains “This song has truly become one of my favorites from the new music, and I hope it makes you feel as liberated as I felt when writing it.”

Jelly Roll books a headlining arena date in Nashville as “Son of a Sinner” breaks into country radio's top thirty

Fast-rising viral sensation Jelly Roll has certified rock chops, but now he's proving that he can hold the attention of a country fan base, too.

His new single, “Son of a Sinner,” just cracked the top thirty at country radio. That makes him the first artist ever to simultaneously notch a top-thirty country hit and an Active Rock chart number-one, with each song being an artist's debut in its respective chart.

Jelly Roll's rock hit is “Dead Man Walking,” which he's currently playing to fans live during his busy touring schedule. Speaking of his live show, the singer just announced a huge Nashville concert: He'll headline the city's Bridgestone Arena on December 9.

By the time he gets to Bridgestone, Jelly Roll will have had ample opportunity to get to know country fans, and vice versa. He's got a show with Texas artist Koe Wetzel on the books, and he's also teaming up with Brantley Gilbert this summer for a short run called the Son of the Dirty South Tour.

Five House Republicans, including Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy, subpoenaed by January 6 committee

The committee investigating the Jan. 6, 2021, attack at the U.S. Capitol issued five subpoenas to House Republicans on Thursday, including one to House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy. The panel also subpoenaed representatives Jim Jordan of Ohio, Mo Brooks of Alabama, Andy Biggs of Arizona and Pennsylvania’s Scott Perry. The five will now be required to testify in front of the committee about the events “on or leading up to January 6th and activities related to the transfer of power” from former President Donald Trump to Joe Biden.  All five have previously declined invitations to voluntarily sit for a deposition.

The committee said in a statement that it “has reason to believe that they have relevant knowledge” of the events, adding, “these members include those who participated in meetings at the White House, those who had direct conversations with President Trump leading up to and during the attack on the Capitol, and those who were involved in the planning and coordination of certain activities on and before January 6th.”

McCarthy told reporters Thursday, “My view on the committee has not changed. They’re not conducting a legitimate investigation. They just want to go after their political opponents.” Previously, the committee said it was interested in speaking to McCarthy after he acknowledged speaking directly with Trump while the riots were underway; they believe he may have information about Trump’s “state of mind and decisions” in the aftermath of the riot.

Hundreds are evacuated after Coastal Fire in Orange County, California destroys more than 20 homes

At least 20 homes were destroyed between Laguna Niguel and Laguna Beach, California due to a brush fire that spread rapidly amid strong winds.

Crews continued to fight the flames of the blaze on Thursday, called the Coastal Fire, which broke out Wednesday afternoon near a water treatment plant and quickly grew in size. At a Thursday morning press conference, fire officials said the fire had burned approximately 200 acres.

While the cause of the fire remains under investigation, Southern California Edison said it sent a letter to the California Public Utilities Commission to inform them of “circuit activity” around the time the fire was reported. Some 900 homes remained under mandatory evacuation orders. Assistant Fire Chief TJ McGovern said: “We did have wind, which is a normal wind condition for this area. Since it started at the bottom of the drainage, it started running up-canyon and upslope. Throwing some wind on that, and the terrain — the steepness of it, was a bad recipe.” McGovern said one firefighter was injured Wednesday and was taken to the hospital. All of the details on their condition were not released, but the firefighter is listed in stable condition.

The Federal Emergency Management Agency is providing a grant to California that will secure additional resources and financial assistance for battling the fire, according to the governor’s office.

“Doin' This” is Luke Combs' story, but it's also for anyone working hard to turn their passion into a paycheck

Luke Combs is once again nearing the top of the country charts, this time with “Doin’ This,” a song that tells his story of doing what he loves for a living.

“At the Grand Ole Opry or a show in some no-name town/ I’d still be doin’ this if I wasn’t doin’ this,” he sings in the chorus.

Even though the song is autobiographical, it’s struck a chord with fans who can relate to Luke’s commitment. “Anybody that’s really passionate about what they do and loves their job, and is doing the thing that they love to do and somehow figured out a way to get paid for it, that is the story,” he reflects.

That isn’t exclusive to people working in the music industry. Others are equally driven to pursue careers as first responders, professional athletes and in so many other fields.

“They would be trying to do that…even if it’s not their job, their job is to make it their job. You know what I mean?” Luke notes. “They’re trying everything they can to get a foot in the door, or find a way to do something that makes them excited to get out of bed every day.”

It’s those people that Luke has to thank for making the song his next big hit. “I think those people have just gravitated to that song, whether they’re in the music industry or not,” he says.

As it creeps up the charts, “Doin’ This” is putting Luke in a familiar spot. If it goes to the top, it’ll be his 13th consecutive solo number-one hit. For those keeping score at home, that’s a record. No other country act has had so many back-to-back chart-topping hits.

Dolly Parton to star in a TikTok musical about Taco Bell’s Mexican pizza

Dolly Parton is starring in a satirical TikTok musical about Taco Bell’s Mexican pizza that will premiere later this month. The country music icon shared the news about her leading role in “Mexican Pizza: The Musical” on social media, writing in an Instagram post along a photo of the screenplay: I’m making #MexicanPizzaTheMusical with @TacoBell#tacobellpartner. “ Taco Bell tweeted with a photo of its Playbill ad with the caption: #MexicanPizzaTheMusical is really happening. Let’s do this!”

Taco Bell’s musical is written by Hannah Friedman with music by Grammy award-winning songwriting duo Abigail Barlow and Emily Bear.  According to the screenplay shared on Parton’s Instagram post, Mexican Pizza: The Musical is “based on the true story of the Internet losing its mind” after the fast-food chain removed the product from its menu in late 2020. It is inspired by TikTok star Victor Kunda’s viral video in March parodying what a dress rehearsal of the musical would look like, based on singer Doja Cat’s catchy jingle shared on the social media app that same month.

Parton has been vocal in the past about her love of Taco Bell, and in January she said in an interview that she thinks the Mexican Pizza should be brought back to menus.  Said Parton of Taco Bell: “They used to make a little … Mexican Pizza.  which is also good. I love that.”

Taco Bell’s Mexican Pizza: The Musical will be released at 8 p.m. ET on May 26, a week after Mexican pizza officially returns to its menu.
