Severe weather forces Garth Brooks to postpone Nashville concert

Garth Brooks was forced to pump the brakes on his Nashville-based concert on Saturday due to severe weather in Tennessee.

ABC-affiliate WRKN reports that Brooks pulled the plug on his stop at Nissan Stadium after strong storms rolled into the area, with fans reportedly capturing video of lighting strikes and others taking cover from the pouring rain.

Before the show was postponed, fans were reportedly asked to wait out the inclement weather in their vehicles, or to shelter near the gates.

According to the venue, plans were being ironed out to reschedule the show to Sunday, but fans received more bad news when that date wasn’t viable.

“After collaborating with our vendors and local officials, we have made the difficult decision to postpone the Garth Brookes Stadium Tour at Nissan Stadium,” stadium officials said in a statement. “Unfortunately, we were unable to secure adequate safety personnel and provide our standard of fan experience in order to move forward with the concert on Sunday evening.”

Ticket holders will be notified when the concert is rescheduled and will be able to use their tickets and parking passes for the new concert date.

Ten people are recovering from gunshot injuries following a shooting that occurred late Saturday night in the New York City borough of Queens. During a news conference on Sunday, New York Police Department officials said that the incident occurred just after 10:30 p.m. when two male suspects began firing at another group of people.

Chief of Detectives James Essig said that at around 10:40 p.m. on Saturday night two male suspects brandished their guns and began firing in the direction of a group of people who were in front of a barber shop down the street. The ages of the victims ranged from 19 to 72 years old.

Detective Essig said that three of the victims were known Trinitarios gang members, which police believe were the intended targets of the shooting, and that police believed the other seven victims were unintended targets. None of the injuries were life-threatening, police said.

Lady A's Hillary Scott is introducing her three-year-old twin girls to the family business

In addition to their musical career, the Lady A band mates all have one big thing in common: They're proud parents who've enjoyed spending time with their respective families while off the road during the COVID-19 pandemic.

For her part, singer Hillary Scott is mom to three daughters: Eight-year-old Eisele and three-year-old twins Betsy and Emory. The younger two girls, she says, are now at an age where they're starting to come with her in the studio, and are even showing some musical talents themselves.

“It was so cool to see them hearing their own voice back, and just getting to be in the control room with me,” Hillary recalls. “Because, you know, the majority of their lives, they haven't really come to work with mom, you know?”

As for the girls' musical personalities, Hillary says they're showing individual tastes and preferences, with Betsy displaying a bit more of a passion for the spotlight.

“They both love to sing. I would have to say Betsy is a little bit more of a…if you ask her, it's always a yes,'” she explains. “Like, Do you wanna sing a song?' And she's like, Yeah, okay,' and she'll just bust into something.”

As for Betsy’s favorite song selections? “She still very much loves This Is Me,' from The Greatest Showman. Anything with Oh-oh's in it, it's her favorite,” Hillary says.

While the three band mates of Lady A agree that time spent with their children has been a high point of life off the road, they're excited to hit the stage once again. They took to the road late last month for the first dates on their What a Song Can Do Tour.
