Charley Pride will be the subject of an upcoming biopic, called American Pride. It's the first feature film to come from a new production company called Bonniedale, co-launched by actor Dennis Quaid.
Martina McBride collaborates with her dad, Daryl Schiff, on the new album Satisfied. Martina's brother, Marty, is also a collaborator on the project; Martina contributes two songs and Marty sings three, with the siblings providing vocal harmonies on all other tracks.
Cam appears as a duet partner with singer-songwriter Wrabel on a new version of his song, “london.”
Jake Owen has offered to “personally pay” for information regarding the man who vandalized his Good Company Entertainment's building in west Nashville. According to a social media update from the singer, he's offering a $5,000 reward.
“Y'all, I need your help,” Jake wrote earlier this week on his Instagram stories. “An individual last night decided to vandalize our [building] for no reason other than he's a punk. I have all the video footage and even a silly little drawing on our wall that came from his small little non creative peanut sized brain.”
The “Made for You” star then posted photos of the drawing — along with the commentary, “So basically he has the IQ of a 3rd grader” — and security footage showing the vandal's face.
Jake's latest release is “Best Thing Since Backroads”; he also appears on Hardy's just-released Hixtape: Vol. 2, a massive collaboration album featuring 33 artists.
Co-founded by Jake and his manager Keith Gale, Good Company Entertainment also manages Larry Fleet, Daves Highway and Angie K.
Carrie Underwood's 2020 Christmas album, My Gift, is on a roll as it heads into its second holiday season. The record, along with its deluxe Special Edition iteration, has notched RIAA Gold certification, with over 300 million global streams to date.
Meanwhile, Carrie's 2020 holiday special is airing once again this year, streaming on HBO Max, and she's spreading plenty of seasonal cheer across a number of new televised performances, too.
Carrie's joining John Legend for the season finale of NBC's The Voice, where they'll perform their original holiday song, “Hallelujah,” which appears on My Gift's track list. Next up, the singer is on the bill for the “Opry Live: USO Holiday Special,” followed by a December 23 headlining appearance at Australia's “Woolworths Carols in the Domain” and a Christmas Eve performance on NBC's TODAY.
That's in addition to the several Christmas-themed performances Carrie's already given so far in 2021. She performed another song off My Gift during the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade, and she was also part of the CMA Country Christmas lineup this year.
Plus, Carrie contributed a brand-new track to fans' stockings this year with the release of her song, “Stretchy Pants,” a light-hearted ode to holiday over-eating.
Hardy gets an assist from Morgan Wallen and Chris Shiflett on “Goin' Nowhere,” the 14th and final track to be released off of Hixtape: Vol. 2.
Backed by loud, hard rock-inspired guitar work, the singers trade verses on the song before coming together for a powerful chorus. Lyrically, it's the story of a guy who's stuck in the same town he grew up in, with a twist: Sure, “all them daughters' daddies were right” that he's “goin' nowhere,” but as far as he's concerned, that's not a bad thing.
“Cause why in the hell would I leave? / I don't need anything but fried chicken and crickets / If there's a yellow pine box you can carry me in it / This red dirt, you can bury me in it / I'm goin' nowhere,” the three proclaim in the chorus.
“Goin' Nowhere” dropped on Friday, along with the Hixtape as a whole. For the past 14 weeks, Hardy's been sharing one track off his massive collaborations project every Friday, leading up to the album's release date.
Hardy's voice appears on only six of the 14 tracks; the others are collaborations between acts like Dierks Bentley, Jon Pardi, Midland, Brothers Osborne and many more.
“Goin' Nowhere” is one of the first new songs out from Morgan since February, when he was ousted from many radio playlists and other aspects of the music industry due to the emergence of video footage that showed him yelling a racist slur. Hardy and Morgan are longtime buddies, and frequent co-writers and collaborators.
Though he's become persona non grata in the industry, fandom for Morgan hasn't cooled; in fact, his January Dangerous: The Double Album project topped Billboard's all-genre 200 Albums chart for 2021.
Chris Lane delivers a story song with a classic twist today, releasing his twang-heavy new love ballad, “Stop Coming Over.”
Though the title might call a breakup song to mind, this track is anything but. Its lyrics tell the story of a guy who's already all-in on his relationship, and the obvious next step is to move in together.
“When I listened to this song for the first time and heard that hook, I knew I had to record it,” the singer says. “It's so catchy and the songwriting is so clever, I just loved everything about it. I can't wait for everyone to hear this one and perform it live for y'all on the road!”
Speaking of the road, Chris will have ample chance to work the song into his set list when he sets forth on the next leg of his Fill Them Boots Tour in January. That batch of shows is named for his current single, and he's released a number of other new songs lately, too, including the heartstring-tugging “That's What Mamas Are For” and his warm-weather anthem, “Summer Job Money.”
At home, Chris has got plenty of real-life inspiration to pull from for his love ballads. Earlier this year, the singer and his wife, Lauren, welcomed their first child, a baby boy named Dutton.
The run will take Tim to amphitheaters across North America, concluding with a Mansfield, Massachusetts show in early June. He's bringing “Home Sweet” star Russell Dickerson along for the ride, as well as two rising performers who got their start on social media.
One is Alexandra Kay, who has gone viral with multiple covers of country classics, including a rendition of “Don't Take the Girl” that earned her praise from Tim himself earlier this year. The other is Brandon Davis, who virtually duetted with Tim on social media this fall for a performance of “Something Like That.”
In addition to his tour dates, Tim is also playing several festivals next year. He's booked for two Texas events early in the spring, including the San Antonio Rodeo in February and Arlington's The American Rodeo in March.
Tickets for the McGraw Tour 2022 go on sale December 17 at 10 a.m. local time. There's also a special presale for Citi cardholders starting December 14. For complete dates and details, visit the singer's website.
Jussie Smollett was found guilty of five counts of disorderly conduct on Thursday, stemming from a January 2019 incident in which the actor alleged he had been attacked because of his race and sexual orientation. A Chicago jury reached guilty verdicts on five of six charges against Smollett. The decision came after nearly 10 hours of deliberation spread across two days from a panel of six men and six women. The charges, class four felonies, could result in up to three years of prison time. Given Smollett’s lack of a criminal history, it is unclear if he will be sentenced to any time in prison.
During the trial, Smollett testified that he had been attacked by two masked men while walking home around 2 a.m. The actor said the men beat him, shouted racist and homophobic comments, poured a chemical substance on him, looped a rope around his neck and then fled. Two brothers, Ola and Abel Osundairo, were arrested in February 2019 for allegedly being connected to the attack. The Osundairos told police that Smollett wrote them a check for $3,500 to carry out the purported attack. Smollett contested that the $3,500 check was given to the brothers for meal and workout plans. His attorneys alleged that the brothers made up the story about the attack being staged and said they would not testify against Smollett if they were paid $1 million each.
Jussie Smollett’s attorney, Nenye Uche, said he “respectfully disagrees” with the jury’s verdict, adding that he feels “100% confident” that Smollett’s case will be won on appeal.” Uche said: “He [Smollett] is 100% confident that this will be reversed on appeal. At the end of the day, we believe justice will prevail. We don’t believe it was done today but we’re very confident that he will be cleared and he will be found to be innocent.”
A federal jury in Arkansas on Thursday convicted former reality TV star Josh Duggar of downloading and possessing child pornography. The jury in Fayetteville found the 33-year-old Duggar guilty on one count each of receiving and possessing child pornography. He faces up to 20 years in prison and fines of up to $250,000 for each count when he’s sentenced at a later date.
Duggar and his family starred on TLC’s “19 Kids and Counting” until the network canceled the show in 2015, following revelations that he had molested four of his sisters and a babysitter. Authorities began investigating the abuse in 2006 after receiving a tip from a family friend but concluded that the statute of limitations on any possible charges had expired. At that time, Duggar’s parents said he had confessed and apologized; and Josh Duggar himself later apologized for a pornography addiction and for cheating on his wife.
Federal authorities said they began investigating Duggar on the child pornography charges after a Little Rock police detective found child porn files were being shared by a computer traced to Duggar. A federal agent testified in May that images depicting the sexual abuse of children, including toddlers, were downloaded in 2019 onto a computer at a car dealership Duggar owned. Duggar’s attorney argued that someone else downloaded or uploaded the images onto Duggar’s computer.

Sure, having Luke Bryan as your duet partner ups the chances of your song becoming a hit, but Luke says that when it comes to the success of “Buy Dirt,” Jordan Davis deserves all the credit.
“I think Buy Dirt' would have been amazing for Jordan Davis whether I was on it or not, but if me being a part of it helps him get some more notoriety and helps grow his artistry, you know?” the country superstar says.
“I don't want anybody patting me on the back for it,” Luke continues, pointing out that the true magic of the song comes from how it was written. Jordan co-wrote the track with his songwriter brother Jacob, as well as Josh Jenkins and Matt Jenkins.
“The buzz was created because the song was written, right? I mean, it started with the song. He recorded it, sent it to me and then we created this beautiful moment together,” Luke goes on to say.
With several hits under his belt, Luke knows a special song when he hears one, and “Buy Dirt” definitely falls into that category.
“Man, I put a lot of music out but…on Buy Dirt,' I mean, my phone's ringing all the time from an old buddy from way back,” he notes.
“Buy Dirt” is the title track from Jordan's May EP. It's currently in country radio's Top 10.
Dustin Lynch and MacKenzie Porter’s hit song “Thinking ‘Bout You” is the No. 1 song on Billboard’s Country airplay chart this week.
“Thinking ‘Bout You” is Dustin Lynch’s 8th No. 1 hit on country radio. Porter has earned 3 No. 1 songs on the Canadian country charts, but “Thinking ‘Bout You” marks her first No. 1 on the U.S. country airplay chart.
