Woman dies after being pulled from car during rescue attempt near brink of Niagara Falls

New York State Parks Police said a woman who was pulled from a submerged car near the brink of Niagara Falls on Wednesday has died. Earlier in the day, a U.S. Coast Guard rescue diver deployed from a helicopter and climbed into the partially submerged car, pulling the woman out of the frigid water. Onlookers said the car was stuck on rocks about 100 feet from the edge of waterfall.

Police Capt. Chris Rola said the woman, who was in her late 60s, was unresponsive as a swimmer was eventually lowered from a Coast Guard chopper into the water to pull her from the vehicle. She was taken from the scene by an ambulance. A state parks spokeswoman later confirmed the woman had died. Rola did not say whether the woman, a local to Western New York, drove into the water intentionally or by accident, citing a pending investigation.

Rola said police first received a 911 call at 11:50 a.m. ET about a black vehicle in the Niagara River floating towards the Falls, away from a pedestrian bridge upstream. “We’ve never had a vehicle in the water this close to the brink,” Rola said. After determining someone was inside the car, officials contacted the Coast Guard, having concluded that a helicopter was the only safe means to conduct a rescue.

Thomas Rhett and his family are “already in the chaos phase,” so what's one more baby?

Thomas Rhett and his wife Lauren welcomed baby Lillie Carolina to the family last month, and that brings their total of young children up to four: They're already parents to six-year-old Willa Gray, four-year-old Ada James and one-year-old Lennon Love.

“Watching a child being born is legit a miracle,” Thomas wrote on social media when he introduced his youngest baby girl. “4 under 6 here we go!”

And while he knows it'll be a lot of work, the singer says he and his wife aren't too phased. “I think after having three kids, I don't feel like me and Lauren could be shocked anymore,” he says with a laugh.

“I do know that four is a lot, but we're already kind of in the chaos phase with young kids — one in kindergarten, one in preschool, one still in diapers and then an infant,” Thomas continues. “We're just gonna have to re-learn how to prioritize our time.”

After all, having a crowded family table has always been a dream for Thomas and Lauren.

“I do know that it's gonna be stressful, but, you know, we always wanted a big family, and we're just looking forward to it,” he adds.

The “chaos phase” of four kids kicks off this holiday season: Lauren recently shared a holiday selfie of all six members of the family together in matching Christmas outfits.

Luke Bryan shares a sweet, “goofy” tribute to his wife Caroline on their 15th anniversary

Luke Bryan and his wife, Caroline, are celebrating 15 years of marriage today, and the singer celebrated with a social media tribute that showcased the couple's signature mix of sweetness and humor.

“Happy 15 Anniversary to my love,” Luke wrote alongside a selfie of himself and Caroline in the stands at a football game. “Don't know how you put up with my goofy a**. I love you to the moon and back.”

Anniversary or no anniversary, both members of the busy couple still have to work: Caroline's guest hosting on the E! Talk show Daily Pop today, and she replied to Luke's anniversary message with a joke about their busy schedules.

“Happy 15th!” she commented. “Maybe we'll see each other at some point today. Love you!”

Earlier this year, the country star couple remembered their first meeting in My Dirt Road Diary, a documentary about Luke's life and career. They met as college students at Georgia Southern University at a bar called Dingus, and Luke describes the occasion as “love at first sight, college magic.”

Brett Eldredge hopes to do his own Christmas special one day, “when the time is right”

Brett Eldredge is currently on the road for this year's Glow Live Tour, an annual run of shows inspired by his holiday album from 2016, Glow. Christmas music — both live and recorded — has become a staple for the country crooner, and he's adding to his seasonal catalog again this year with the release of a new album, Mr. Christmas.

But live shows and albums aside, Brett says he'd like to find more ways to get into the Christmas spirit in the years ahead.

“I want to do my own Christmas special when the time is right,” the singer tells Billboard. “I've been working on some movie script ideas. There's nothing planned — I've never shared them with anybody — but I want to continue bringing good stories to shine some light in this world.”

When it comes to spreading holiday cheer, Brett takes inspiration from some of the greats.

“A few years ago, I was in a dressing room next to Tony [Bennett] for the Rockefeller Center tree lighting. I thought, He's 60 years older than me and still doing Christmas music,” Brett remembers.

“I hope to do 10 more Christmas albums. I would love to do even 40 more years of this,” he goes on to say. “I like stepping into that role as a guy who can deliver joy, because it also gives me great purpose. I just want to brighten somebody's day.”

Garth Brooks' Stadium Tour is headed to Orlando in spring 2022

Garth Brooks is headed to Florida. The country superstar just revealed that he's booked a Stadium Tour stop at Orlando's Camping World Stadium for March 26, 2022.

The announcement comes just a couple of days after he teased more show announcements on Monday night's episode of Inside Studio G, his Facebook live series. Many of the shows so far announced for 2022 have been in the Midwest and South, but Garth hinted that his territory might expand soon.

“There's going to be at least a couple more, including maybe a third one that's huge for us,” he hints, adding with a laugh, “I can't imagine the West Coast and the East Coast both getting Christmas presents, but who knows!”

According to that teaser, it seems as if Garth might not be done announcing shows. He recently confirmed 2022 Stadium Tour dates in Arkansas and Louisiana, and he'll close out the year with a whopping five stops at Dublin, Ireland's Croke Park.

Tickets to Garth's Orlando show go on sale Friday, December 17 at 10 a.m. ET.
