Billie Eilish shares two new acoustic tracks, ‘TV’ and ‘The 30th’

Billie Eilish teased on Instagram last week that she was working with her brother and longtime collaborator FINNEAS on new music, and now she has unveiled two new acoustic songs on an EP titled Guitar Songs: “TV,” which was performed several times on Eilish’s recent European tour, and “The 30th,” which has never been heard.

Eilish said in a statement:  “FINNEAS and I really wanted these to be yours as soon as possible. So here they are!! Performing ‘TV’ on tour was such a highlight for us too, so we took the audio from the first night we played it in Manchester and put it in the song. I get shivers every time I hear it. Hope you love the songs and thank you for letting us share our music with you.”

Eilish released her second album, Happier Than Ever, last year. She’s been on tour in support of that album since the spring, and will take her tour to Asia, Australia, and New Zealand, starting Aug. 13 in Manila.

Check out the lyric video for “TV” – here; and the lyric video for “The 30th” – here.

Kane Brown returns to pop with new single, “Grand”

Kane Brown may be gearing up to release a full-fledged country album, but his love for pop music isn't going anywhere, and he proved it on Friday with the release of a new song “Grand.”

“Ain't life grand / Only ones I keep around me is my fam / No coincidence it's always been the plan,” Kane sings in the chorus. “And I always keep it trilly with the fans / Oh, ain't life grand?”

“Grand” is a pretty striking left turn from Kane's latest single, “Like I Love Country Music” — a song that keeps things country and features a guest spot from Brooks & Dunn. But fans have come to expect a diverse blend of musical influences from Kane. Since the beginning, he's been known for his pop-inflected hits and out-of-the-box duets as well as his traditional beginnings of covering artists like Randy Travis.

“Grand” will be on the track list of Kane's upcoming album, Different Man, which arrives September 9.

As she gears up for the release of her next album, Subject to Change, Kelsea Ballerini already has plans to take her new batch of songs on the road.

“I've really missed you,” she wrote in the caption. “Let's jump right back in together for these 10 special nights.”

Kelsea's new tour takes its name from “Heartfirst,” which is the lead single off of Subject to Change. She also recently released another song called “Love is a Cowboy.”

Jon Pardi shares 'Mr. Saturday Night' track list + releases title track

Jon Pardi hides his heartache behind a good-timing smile in “Mr. Saturday Night,” the just-released title track of his upcoming new album.

“I feel like everybody wants to be Mr. Saturday Night' at one point on the weekend and have a good time,” the singer reflects. “But then you hear the song and — the way it's so well-written — it's a sad song, but you don't go there right away, because it's also a fun song.”

He adds, “That's the thing about Mr. Saturday Night,' it's more than meets the eye. It's all fun until you get to the chorus.”

A steel-and-fiddle-soaked waltz, “Mr. Saturday Night” is a mournful ode to anyone who self-medicates their loneliness with alcohol and casual flings — then feels more alone than ever when the morning comes.

“So I buy a round and shut it down and never leave alone / But then Sunday comes and they get up and they go,” Jon sings in the chorus. “That's why they call me Mr. Saturday Night / Mr. Always In, Mr. Never Missed a Good Time…”

In addition to dropping his new song, Jon shared the full track list of Mr. Saturday Night, which consists of 14 songs. It includes previously released singles “Last Night Lonely” and his Midland duet, “Longneck Way to Go,” plus a slew of as-yet-unheard tracks.

Mr. Saturday Night is due out September 2.

“Rich Man”: Little Big Town previews Mr. Sun with family-focused new ballad

Just days after they announced their 10th studio album, Mr. Sun, Little Big Town is treating fans to a new song off the not-yet-released project.

Rich Man” is a tender ballad about finding perspective and gratitude in life, with the understanding that true wealth doesn't come from money but rather from love, good friends and family.

“Yeah, in my soul, one thing I know / I ain't lookin' for a pot of gold / That ain't what this life means to me,” the four artists sing in the chorus. “I keep my head up high, feet on the ground / Love the ones I'm living round / Life is just that simple to me.”

The quartet's Jimi Westbrook wrote the song and also handles lead vocals, with a boost from LBT's signature rich, soaring four-part vocal harmony.

“Rich Man' has a special place in my heart, and it feels like the most honest me song I've ever written,” Jimi reflects. “It is about my love of family and their role in laying the foundation that anchors me.”

In a lyric video for the song, the bandmates compile personal family footage, lending a sweet, autobiographical touch to “Rich Man”'s message.

“Rich Man” is the third new song LBT has released ahead of their next album. They previously put out the lead single, “Hell Yeah,” as well as another breezy bop called “All Summer.” Mr. Sun drops in full on September 16.

White House says that President Biden is not at risk of serious illness after testing positive for COVID-19

White House officials said in a briefing Thursday that President Joe Biden is taking an antiviral and isn’t expected to have serious illness, this after testing positive for COVID-19, White House COVID-19 response coordinator Dr. Ashish Jha told reporters that Biden is fully up to date on his vaccines and has been prescribed Paxlovid to treat the virus.  Dr. Jha said during a White House briefing: “Because the president is fully vaccinated, double boosted, his risk of serious illness is dramatically lower. Our expectation is that he’s going to have mild illness.”

Biden has been tested for COVID-19 regularly since taking office, but has never had a positive result before Thursday. Earlier in the day, White House press secretary Karine Jean-Pierre said in a statement: “This morning, President Biden tested positive for COVID-19. He is fully vaccinated and twice boosted and experiencing very mild symptoms.nHe has begun taking Paxlovid. Consistent with CDC guidelines, he will isolate at the White House and will continue to carry out all of his duties fully during that time.”  Additionally, Biden’s travel has been cancelled for at least the next five days; Jean-Pierre said: “Out of an abundance of transparency, the White House will provide a daily update on the president’s status as he continues to carry out the full duties of the office while in isolation.”

Biden later posted a video on Twitter saying he’s “doing great” and continuing to work. “Keep the faith,” he said. “It’s going to be OK.”

Federal judge sentences former police officer Thomas Lane to 30 months in prison in George Floyd case

A federal judge sentenced former Minneapolis police officer Thomas Lane to 30 months in prison for violating George Floyd’s civil rights in his 2020 death. Lane was one of three officers charged with violating Floyd’s civil rights for not intervening when former Minneapolis police officer Derek Chauvin placed his knee on Floyd’s neck for more than eight minutes, leading to his death. Lane was also convicted in February for depriving Floyd of medical care during his arrest. Prosecutors had asked for six-and-a-half years in prison.

Lane was only on his fourth day of the police force during Floyd’s arrest, and was heard on body camera video asking the other officers if they should turn Floyd over, and that he was concerned. The former officer pleaded guilty to the state’s charge of aiding and abetting second-degree manslaughter in Floyd’s death. He agreed to three years behind bars and is expected to be sentenced for the state’s charge on Sept. 21.

Kane Brown's “Like I Love Country Music” dates back to 2019, but its influences are even more of a throwback

Kane Brown's current single, “Like I Love Country Music,” may be on his upcoming new album, but he actually wrote it three years ago.

“I wrote this song in 2019,” the star says. “I remember it was, like, a little writer's retreat thing on the road. We had two different songs going, one in the back of the bus and one in the front of the bus, and I was in the back.”

But he switched groups when he caught wind of what the songwriters in front were up to. “The writers had this great idea, and they already had some of the first verse,” Kane continues. “And I just remember thinking, This could be a smash.'”

So he started working on the song that would go on to become “Like I Love Country Music,” and though he didn't put it out for a few more years — “the song just wasn't ready,” he explains — he never lost that early enthusiasm for it.

His favorite part of the song is its homage to classic country, Kane says. “One of the things I love about it is all the country icons that we listed,” he recounts. “And Brooks & Dunn even jumped on the song.”

That song — complete with a vocal boost from the legendary country duo — is the lead single off Kane's recently announced next album, Different Man. That project will be out September 9.
