Dan + Shay announce new LP, share video for the single “Save Me The Trouble”

After two years, Dan + Shay are back with new music, releasing their new single, “Save Me The Trouble,” along with the video for the track. Smyers said via a statement: “I don’t think I’ve ever been prouder of a song that I am this one. We wanted to have something that was a real moment, and when we started writing this, it felt like it could be something big. I wanted every section to build, and even in the second chorus, when you’re like, ‘Okay, there’s no way it could possibly get any crazier,’ then Shay takes off even further.”  You can take a look at the video for “Save Me The Trouble,” – here.

The duo recently reflected on nearly breaking up, and that despite their success, they were both burnt out after their career demanded so much from both of them. Smyers said in a video dubbed “The Drive” shared to social media: “I was in, like, the lowest low of my entire life. Came off the road and I was like, ‘Man, I f–king hate music. I’m ready to quit.’”  Mooney went on to tell Smyers: “I could feel the separation, and I think there was little things between you and I that we never talked about. It was affecting everything. Not just our band.” After not speaking for four months, the duo shared that they worked things out and are now stronger than ever. Said Smyers: “I can feel the closeness of our relationship and our friendship when I listen back to the music. We are by far, a million times, the closest we’ve ever been. For so many reasons. But because we worked at it. That makes what we’re doing now infinitely sustainable. I could do this the rest of my life with you.

Dan and Shay later shared news of their upcoming, new LP: “Our new album, Bigger Houses, will be available everywhere September 15, and pre-order begins tonight at 11 PM CT.”  The duo also shared two other songs from the upcoming album, “Heartbreak On The Map,” and their title track, “Bigger House,” as well as the music videos for both.  To pre-order “Bigger Houses,” head here.

TIME Studios to produce Notorious B.I.G. documentary ‘Understanding Christopher Wallace’

TIME Studios has announced the production of a new documentary based on The Notorious B.I.G., to be titled ‘Understanding Christopher Wallace.’  The studio describes the documentary as “an intimate look at the untold life story of late rapper The Notorious B.I.G.,’ and explained that the doc will follow Biggie’s son Christopher “C.J.” Wallace, who was born five months before his father died in 1997.

C.J Wallace will seek to learn more about his father throughout the doc, and the documentary will share footage of Biggie’s time in the spotlight, and present-day footage of the younger Wallace.  TIME Studios’ head of documentary Loren Hammonds shared a statement: “The Notorious B.I.G. had such an immense impact on not only music but also on popular culture as a whole. But this film is about so much more than that. It’s about fatherhood, loss, and love. It’s incredibly special to be able to let audiences learn about the man behind the myth through C. J.’s eyes, and we’re very proud to play a part in carrying on Christopher Wallace’s inimitable legacy.”

C.J. Wallace shared: “Over the past few years, I realized my personal journey is connected to understanding who Christopher George Latore Wallace was outside of his big rap persona. I am on a journey to fully understand the world he lived in and the massive impact he had on American and Black history and by doing so, I can ensure that I honor his hopes and dreams while I build and create my own legacy for future generations of Wallaces.”

Understanding Christopher Wallace will be directed by Vikram Gandhi, who previously directed and produced the 2020 Hulu documentary about rapper 6ix9ine titled 69: The Sage of Danny Hernandez. Gandhi said: “It’s an honor to document C.J.’s personal odyssey to understand his father and to create a deeper and more definitive film about the man behind the persona Notorious BIG, Christopher Wallace.”

The documentary has yet to be given a release date.

Eric Church talks new exhibit + reliving tour memories with his boys

Eric Church recently celebrated the opening of his new exhibit, Eric Church: Country Heart, Restless Soul, at the Country Music Hall of Fame and Museum.

During a private reception, Eric spoke about one of the highlights of touring his new exhibit: reliving past tour memories with his boys, Boone McCoy and Tennessee Hawkins.

“The best part for me, both of my kids you know from two and three months old, they grew up on the tour bus. And when you're in the tornado and you're going through it, you forget all these things that happened,” Eric shares with the press. “And to be beside my boys tonight as we walk through and went through those tidbits, but when they were one or two or three, they don't remember that, that was my favorite part of this entire exhibit – experiencing it again with them.”

“This is an unbelievable honor for me,” he adds. “The people that I love and respect are here and have been very incremental to me being here. I will say that there is something to doing it your own way, and you can still get to where you want to go if you do it that way.”

Eric’s new exhibit will be on display until June 9, 2024. For more information, visit countrymusichalloffame.org.
