Jordan Davis details his 4th of July plans: “I love cooking for people”

With time off the road this 4th of July, Jordan Davis is looking forward to a nice, all-American gathering with his family and friends.

“I love cooking for people. I love having people over to the house, grilling hot dogs, cooking/making brisket, just being around the people you want to be around with – drinking beer, watching baseball,” Jordan shares with the press.

“I don't know. Maybe I'm just getting old, but my idea of having fun now is having people over to the house and just playing host,” he adds. “And so, that's exactly what we're going to do this year; have some friends and family over and hang out with the kids, let ’em run around the sprinklers and cook a bunch of food.”

Jordan’s currently #1 on the country charts with his single “Next Thing You Know.” He’s also on tour with Dierks Bentley on Dierks’ Gravel & Gold Tour.

Luke Bryan's staple 4th of July activities? Water and fireworks

Like many of us, Luke Bryan‘s 4th of July holiday activities typically involve two things: being on a boat and shooting up fireworks.

“My plans for the Fourth are always to be on the boat somewhere in the water, and buy a few fireworks, [and] send ’em up in the sky for the boys,” Luke tells the press. “It’s always a boat and water, whether it’s in the Gulf of Mexico, whether it’s in Georgia…”

“We don’t have a total plan yet,” he says of this year’s arrangement. “But we’ll be having a good time on the Fourth.”

Luke’s latest single, “But I Got A Beer In My Hand,” is currently #18 and rising on the country chart.

His headlining Country On Tour continues this week with stops in Wantagh, New York, and Columbia, Maryland. For the full schedule and to purchase tickets, visit Luke’s website.

Brad Paisley's excited to headline Nashville's 4th of July concert

Brad Paisley is thrilled to headline Nashville’s Let Freedom Sing! Music City's 4th of July celebration for a second year.

His first run was in 2021 when everyone was returning to normalcy after 2020’s pandemic. So this year, he’s anticipating things will feel a little different.

“I don't know if it’ll mean more than that first time because that was the reopening, that was like the welcome back moment. So, that was a really ridiculous feeling to walk out there and see people as far as you can see on Broadway and nobody had a mask on, and for the first time everything felt like, ‘Wow, I've missed this so much’,” Brad recalls to the press.

“This year, it should be just as fun, but at the same time a little more business as usual for all of us, which is that street is packed EVERY night, as you know, and I just hope to not take away from the party they're already having on Broadway,” he adds with a laugh. “But it's worth sitting through my show for the fireworks that they do.”

Nashville’s 4th of July concert is free and will also feature performances from The War And TreatyTiera KennedyBen Rector and Langhorne Slim.

2 killed, 30 injured in mass shooting at Baltimore block party

At least two people were killed, and approximately 30 were injured, in a mass shooting at a Baltimore block party in the early hours of Sunday. Acting Police Commissioner Richard Worley said: “Our hearts and prayers are going out to the families, sending out to the families and friends of these victims as well as the community in our entire city.”

Police confirmed on Sunday afternoon that the two people killed at the party, in the city’s Brooklyn Homes neighborhood, were adults, but neither has yet been identified, adding that at least 30 others had been injured, three of them critically. Half of the injured victims are under 18.

Police first received calls about the shooting around 12:30 a.m. Sunday; nineteen people were transferred to the emergency department of MedStar Harbor Hospital. Debra Schindler, regional director of media and public relations at MedStar Health, said in a statement that the victims were “suffering varying degrees of injury from gunshot wounds,” adding, “multiple critically injured patients were evaluated and triaged simultaneously by clinical staff, while hospital security managed the throng of family members that gathered in and outside of the emergency department.” The University of Maryland Medical Center said in a statement that 12 patients were in their trauma center, and four more were being treated in the pediatric emergency department.

Baltimore Mayor Brandon Scott said during a news conference: “This was a reckless, cowardly act that happened here. I want those who are responsible to hear me, hear me very clearly,” Scott continued. “We will not stop until we find you, and we will find you. I hope, every single breath that you take that you think about the lives that you took, and you think about the lives that you impacted here tonight.” Scott called on citizens to come forward with any information they have: “Somebody out there knows who did this … We need you to say something. We need you to treat this as if someone had taken the life of your son, your daughter, your father, your brother. We need you to do that and step up and do the right thing.”

2 trampled, 7 shot in Kansas nightclub shooting

Seven people were shot and two others were trampled after a gunfight involving multiple patrons erupted early Sunday inside a Wichita, Kansas, nightclub. Police confirmed that the two people who suffered traumatic injuries, a 30-year-old woman and a 31-year-old man, were trampled in the mass scramble to escape the gunfire.

Lt. Aaron Moses, executive officer of the Wichita Police Department, said at a news conference on Sunday that at least four guns were fired during the shootout that erupted at 12:58 a.m. inside the City Nightz nightclub in the Old Town section of Wichita,  Moses said an individual suspected of being one of the gunmen who opened fire inside the nightclub was taken into custody, and investigators are working to identify others involved in the shooting. A motive for the shooting is under investigation.

Authorities said that there has been an increased police presence in the Old Town area due to previous problems, including a shooting in May that killed a 19-year-old woman. Detective Chris Merceau of the Wichita Police Department said on Sunday that police have responded to 12 incidents associated with City Nightz in the past year, including investigating aggravated battery cases and a May 21 drive-by shooting. Lt. Moses said that officers were on patrol outside City Nightz when “they heard a disturbance and screams from inside the business and then a large number of people exited the business … trough that chaos … we ended up identifying, at this point, seven shooting victims and two traumatic injury victims. We believe all of the injuries occurred inside the business.”

Lt. Moses said that at least four guns were seized from inside the nightclub and police were analyzing them to determine if any of them were used in the shooting. He said the shooting victims included two women and five men ranging in age from 21 to 34; five were taken to hospitals by ambulance, with one of those listed in critical condition, while the others are expected to survive non-life-threatening injuries.

Dierks Bentley's got high praise for Jordan Davis + Molly Tuttle

Dierks Bentley is currently on the road on his Gravel & Gold Tour.

The trek, which kicked off earlier in June, has so far been one of Dierks’ favorite tours, from performing onstage for fans to watching Jordan Davis side stage and everything in between.

“The road is so fun. I mean, I probably say that about every tour. [But] I can’t imagine any touring being more fun than this,” Dierks says, before raving about Jordan. “I was watching the first night and to see the crowd react the way they did, it just makes my job so easy. It’s like, he’s got them just teed up and having a big party. I get to go out there and it’s so easy. So the tour’s never been more fun.”

Jordan isn’t the only artist Dierk’s impressed by. He’s also got high praise for Grammy-winning bluegrass artist Molly Tuttle, who he’s tapped to open on various dates.

“I’m a huge bluegrass fan. So to have that, like, artistic moment first where I’m out there watching her, obviously, and watching the crowd and some people are going, ‘OK, I’ve never heard of this artist, and a lot of banjo.’ But by, like, song three, they’re totally in,” shares Dierks.

He adds, “I’m so happy for those fans ’cause they’re going to go home and be like, ‘I heard of an artist named Molly Tuttle.’ And one of their friends is going to be like, ‘You know, she just won the Grammy this year for [Best Bluegrass Album]. … Wow, that’s so cool you saw them.'”
