Paramore forced to cancels several shows due to ‘undisclosed illness’ in the band

Paramore has been forced to postpone four shows on their North American tour due to an ‘undisclosed illness’ within the band.

Paramore posted a series of statements on their social media accounts following the initial postponement in San Francisco: “As announced yesterday, our show in San Francisco was postponed due to illness within the touring party. After much deliberation, in the interest of our health and ability to put on a show you all deserve, we have decided to reschedule our shows this week in Seattle, Portland, and Salt Lake City … We tried everything in our ability to put on the show last night. We know that some of you waited in line for hours, traveled far distances, and moved around plans to be there. We are extremely sorry for the inconvenience caused … To everyone affected by these postponements, please know that we do not take postponing a show lightly. The last thing we want to do is postpone a show that we’ve all been looking forward to for months. We love you, we are sorry, and we hope to see you soon.”

The band first postponed their show in San Francisco on Saturday, July 22, which was rescheduled to Aug. 7; and now they’ve postponed three more shows in July. The band’s Seattle show, originally scheduled for July 24, has been moved to Aug. 9; their Portland date was postponed from July 25 to Aug. 10; and their stop in Salt Lake City, Utah has been moved from July 27 to Aug. 13.  The band’s July 29 show in Tulsa, Oklahoma and following in St. Louis on July 30 are still currently listed on their site, along with remaining and rescheduled dates in August.

Paramore is also scheduled to kick off an international tour in New Zealand on Nov. 18, running through dates in Australia and Europe before concluding with three shows at Wembley Stadium in August 2024.

Hailey Whitters' “Tie'r Down” was inspired by a Trisha Yearwood classic

Hailey Whitters has dropped a breezy new song, “Tie’r Down.”

Of the nostalgic track, Hailey shares, “It’s no secret I grew up a kid on ’90s country radio, and so when I went in one day to write with Rodney Clawson and Chris LaCorte, I was reminiscing about Trisha Yearwood‘s song ‘XXX’s & OOO’s.'”

“I was thinking a lot about the way that song made me feel – strong and like I could do anything I set my mind to despite whatever barriers anyone or anything might put in my way,” she adds. “I wanted to write a song that made young girls growing up in today’s world feel that same feeling.”

“Tie’r Down” is the latest preview of Hailey’s forthcoming EP, I’m In Love. Due out July 28, the six-track set includes the title track and “Everything She Ain’t,” which is #15 and rising on the country charts.

Rock out to Chris Young's nostalgic “Young Love & Saturday Nights”

The wait is over: Chris Young‘s “Young Love & Saturday Nights” is finally out.

After several teases of the song on social media, Chris has dropped the euphoric track, which he produced with Corey Crowder and Chris DeStefano

“When I first heard this song, I immediately connected with the groove and the lyrics with nods to so many things I can personally relate to,” Chris says of his new song. “It made me think back to when I first got started playing country dive bars and it was the same kind of thing.”

“I drove a beat-up truck to and from gigs where I played music hoping the audiences would relate. and if I'm being honest, hoping the girls would like it too,” he adds. “Young love and Saturday nights are things that just go together and this feels like one of those big summer songs where you just want to roll the windows down, crank up the volume, and just drive around to it.”

Eagle-eyed fans may also notice the late rock singer David Bowie credited as a songwriter alongside Ashley GorleyJesse Frasure and Josh Thompson. That’s because Chris offers a guitar-driven interpolation of David’s iconic “Rebel Rebel” in his song.

Meanwhile, “Looking for You,” which is Chris’ current single, is #12 and ascending the country charts.

Elon Musk announces Twitter change of logo from bird to ‘X’

Elon Musk tweeted on  Sunday that he plans to change the logo of Twitter to an “X” from the famous blue bird, posting a short video teasing what the new logo may look like. In a series of posts on his Twitter account starting just after 12 a.m. ET, Twitter’s owner said that he’s looking to make the change worldwide as soon as Monday, writing: “And soon we shall bid adieu to the twitter brand and, gradually, all the birds.”  Musk later tweeted: “Not sure what subtle clues gave it way, but I like the letter X”  and later posted: X.com now points to https://twitter.com/. Interim X logo goes live later today.”

The change isn’t surprising given Musk’s long history with the name “X.” Musk’s rocket company, Space Exploration Technologies Corp., is commonly known as ‘SpaceX.’ And in 1999, Musk founded a startup called X.com, an online financial services company now known as PayPal.  In fact, the billionaire Tesla CEO tweeted last October that “buying Twitter is an accelerant to creating X, the everything app.”

Musk’s news is just the latest big change to Twitter since he bought the social media platform for $44 billion last year. The logo change on Twitter, however, was met with sharp criticism on the social media platform, who felt it would be confusing to a huge chunk of the Twitter’s audience.  Revenue has dropped sharply since Musk took over the company and laid off roughly three-fourths of the workforce to slash costs and avoid bankruptcy. He hired longtime NBC Universal executive Linda Yaccarino as Twitter’s CEO in May.

Musk’s latest move comes shorty after Twitter faced new competition from Meta’s new app, Threads, launched earlier this month.  Threads is being billed as a text-based version of Meta’s photo-sharing app Instagram that the company has said offers “a new, separate space for real-time updates and public conversations.” In the first five days of its launch, 100 million people had signed up for Threads.
