9-year-old girl, TV news staffer among three killed in Orlando shooting

Authorities confirmed that a local TV news journalist and a 9-year-old girl were among three people killed in shootings in Orlando, Florida, on Wednesday, while two others were wounded. Authorities said the mother of the 9-year-old child who died was in critical condition and is continuing to “fight for her life.”

Orange County Sheriff John Mina said in a news conference that Keith Melvin Moses, 19, has been arrested in connection with the shootings and is expected to be charged. Mina said that Moses has a lengthy criminal history that includes gun charges and charges for aggravated battery and assault with a deadly weapon, burglary and grand theft. The sheriff’s office said they didn’t yet know if the suspect had any connection to the news crew, or the mother and daughter.

Police say the deadly rampage began at 11 a.m. local time when deputies responded to a shooting and discovered a woman in her 20s who had been fatally shot.  Moses allegedly shot and killed a woman in her 20s (with whom he was an acquaintance) on Wednesday morning, and police were called later in the day to two additional shootings near the scene. Sheriff Mina said a 9-year-old child and her mother were shot at one home; and at another scene nearby, staffers from Spectrum News 13 were shot near their vehicle. Authorities located the reporter and photographer for Spectrum News 13 — who were on the scene to cover the homicide which had occurred Wednesday morning — shot in or near their news vehicle. One of the News 13 employees died from their injuries. Mina said it is unclear why the Spectrum News 13 crew members were targeted, or if the suspect even knew whether or not they were members of the media.

Twin-engine plane crashes in Little Rock, Ark, killing all 5 aboard

A twin-engine plane crashed near the Clinton National Airport in Little Rock, Ark., on Wednesday afternoon, killing all five people on board. The Little Rock Police Department tweeted that emergency departments were alerted to the crash at 12:02 p.m., with callers reporting a crash near the 3M plant that is in the area. Sources from the Federal Aviation Administration confirmed there were no survivors.

The sheriff’s office said the plane was about a mile from the Clinton National Airport when it crashed after departing the airport. The plane was reportedly a Beech BE20 that was on its way to Columbus, Ohio.

Lt. Cody Burk, spokesman for the department, said it is unclear if weather played a role in the crash. A line of thunderstorms with wind gusts up to 46 mph swept through the heart of Arkansas at about the time of the crash.

Dierks Bentley walked down the road three times before he arrived at 'Gravel & Gold'

It was a long road to Gravel & GoldDierks Bentley‘s tenth album, which arrives Friday.

His last studio effort, The Mountain, came out way back in June of 2018, though he’s since topped the chart with “Gone” and “Beers on Me.”

Dierks thought he was ready to make his record in Nashville in March 2021, but that didn’t turn out to be the case. He admits COVID testing and wearing masks killed the studio vibe that’s so important. He even hung a picture of Buck Owens, hoping it would help, to no avail.

Six months later, he tried again with producer Luke Dick. Even though they were producing “B+, A-” material, Dierks walked away knowing what he wanted.

“I started realizing at that point that what this whole idea of a 10th album meant to me is I wanted it to be a collection of everything I’d done…” he reflects. “[It] should have that Luke Dick stuff, but it should also have the bluegrass and the nineties and the traditional.”

Then, the third time worked.

“It’s just a feel thing, you know? It’s like when I sip whiskey, I can’t tell you all the different flavors. I just know good or bad or great or ‘Wow!'” he laughs.

“You just know when it’s right,” Dierks continues. “And that third time around… we’d been grinding hard enough, been back in town long enough, had a vision for what I wanted to say, it just kind of all came together.”

On Thursday at 8 p.m. ET, you can livestream Dierks’ Gravel & Gold performance from the Country Music Hall of Fame via Twitch channel 3point5.

Kelsea Ballerini shares details of divorce from Morgan Evans; Evans responds

Kelsea Ballerini appeared on the Feb. 22 episode of the “Call Her Daddy” podcast and opened up about the end of her 5 year marriage to Morgan Evans. Ballerini recalled first meeting Evans in March 2016 and that things moved fast, with Evans proposing in December of that same year after just nine months of dating. Ballerini said she swore she would never get married because of her parents’ “nasty” divorce, but the pair wed one year after their engagement in December 2017. Ballerini said things began falling apart when she felt Evans wasn’t prioritizing her, and “there was such a sense of disconnection” between them.

Ballerini noted that she and Evans had a “really beautiful conversation” about their divorce in August 2022, but they haven’t spoken again after their split. Said Kelsea: “I was just really honest. I just said, like, I’ve loved what this has brought in my life and I respect you and I respect me, and because of that I can no longer be in this marriage And I really want to do this together and I really want to, like, honor the good that we’ve experienced by doing this the right way. It was beautiful. We cried. We hugged. It was sweet … And then something changed and … I haven’t talked to him since.” Ballerini admitted that when Evans released his song “Over For You” within weeks after that conversation, it made her “livid.” On Valentine’s Day 2023, Ballerini released her “Rolling Up the Welcome Mat” EP, which chronicles her side of the break-up. Ballerini also said during the podcast interview that she was ready to date again, and confirmed that she is not single, saying she is having “fun” and “just vibing” with “Outer Banks” actor Chase Stokes.

Following Ballerini’s podcast interview, Evans posted a statement to Instagram saying: “It’s really sad for me to see this person, who I spent so much of my life with, and loved with all my heart, saying things that aren’t reality and that leave out what really happened. She knows I’m not the type of guy to speak on those things publicly If this is what she needs to heal, I hope it helps. All I ask is that if you’re on my pages, please don’t be mean. Don’t be mean to Kelsea, don’t be mean to each other. Life’s too short.”
