Jason Aldean and Carrie Underwood make history on country charts with “If I Didn't Love You”

Fans are clearly loving Jason Aldean and Carrie Underwood‘s new duet.

Since its release on July 23, “If I Didn’t Love You” has bounded to #2 on the Billboard Hot Country Songs chart, setting a record as the highest debut for a duet featuring a solo male and female artist since the chart’s inception in 1958.

It bests the previous record set by Blake Shelton and Gwen Stefani when their hit “Nobody but You” debuted at #9 in 2019.

This marks Jason’s 35th top-10 hit on the Hot Country Songs chart and Carrie’s 30th. Her previous highest-charting debut on the chart was with Miranda Lambert on “Somethin’ Bad,” which bowed at #5 in 2014.

“If I Didn’t Love You” also has launched into the top 30 of the Billboard Country Airplay chart with a debut at #28, and sits at #1 on the Billboard Country Digital Song Sales Songs chart and #4 on the Billboard Country Streaming Songs tally.

“If I Didn’t Love You” serves as the lead single off Jason’s forthcoming album.

Mitchell Tenpenny sends “Truth About You” to country radio

Mitchell Tenpenny is unveiling the “Truth About You” in his new single.

The song went viral among Mitchell’s fanbase after he teased it on TikTok in early July, and he’s now officially releasing the track as his next single at country radio. It marks the largest streaming debut of the country star’s career: 2.5 million times in its first three days.

The banjo-tinged song finds the Nashville native on the bitter end of a breakup, asking for compromise from his former partner. “If you quit telling lies about me/I won’t tell the truth about you,” he sings in the defining line.

“I have the best and most reactive fans. Their instantaneous feedback is invaluable to me as an artist. There is nothing more gratifying than making music for them,” Mitchell says in a statement.

“Truth About You” will be featured on a forthcoming EP, set for release later this year. Mitchell is also featured on Chris Young‘s new album, Famous Friends, and will open for Chris on the Famous Friends Tour, kicking off in October.

Garth Brooks praises fans' “character,” working on rescheduling Nashville stadium show

After intense thunder and lightning storms led to a cancellation of his show at Nissan Stadium in Nashville on Saturday, Garth Brooks is actively working to reschedule the performance.

On Inside Studio G Monday night, Garth expressed that he was “heartbroken” that the weather forced him to postpone his first show at the Music City stadium, which drew more than 70,000 fans. He says he and his team are in the process of collaborating with the Nissan Stadium staff to work around the Tennessee Titans’ schedule and find a new date for the show.

“There is a rescheduled date that we're working with, but we can't confirm it yet. We've got to line it up with our stuff. But we'll figure out what we do,” Garth explains.

The superstar went on to praise his loyal fans, who had to take shelter inside the concourses of the venue during the storm, lifting one another’s spirits with sing-a-longs to “Friends in Low Places.”

“They say that character is not created in crisis, it is displayed in crisis, or it is revealed. The one thing that I'll brag about against anybody is the Garth crowd, G City.' Those people? Friggin' amazing,” Garth raves. “My hat's off to the Titan organization, to Nashville, the EMTs, all the first responders — amazing. The firemen, the police, everything. And then, of course, for the people that sat in those seats. So sweet.”

Carly Pearce's new album, 'Written in Stone,' features collaborations with Patty Loveless, Ashley McBryde

Carly Pearce‘s story of 29 continues with her upcoming album, Written in Stone.

Carly is expanding upon the personal album she released in February, which processes her divorce from Michael Ray and the passing of her producer, busbee, with Written in Stone. It features eight new songs, alongside the original seven on 29.

The project features collaborations with Patty Loveless on “Dear Miss Loretta” and Ashley McBryde on “Never Wanted to Be That Girl,” alongside other new tracks “Diamondback,” “What He Didn’t Do,” “Easy Going,” “Your Drinkin,’ My Problem,” “All the Whiskey in the World,” and “Mean It This Time.”

Coinciding with the album news, the Kentucky native released “Dear Miss Loretta,” a country ode to Loretta Lynn with strong supporting vocals from Patty, in which Carly shares how she connects to the legend’s pain-soaked songs.

“So much has happened to me in the last year. The more my life unraveled, the more the songs lifted me up,” Carly describes. “As the smoke cleared, and some unbelievable things started happening, I was writing even more truth and getting lifted up even higher — and I realized, as much as 29 captured a moment, I wasn't done with the story.”

News of Written in Stone arrives on September 17, hours before the “I Hope You’re Happy Now” singer is to be inducted into the Grand Ole Opry.

White House calling on states to prevent evictions as moratorium expires

The White House put pressure state and local governments to adopt policies to protect renters after an eviction moratorium expired over the weekend, a move which could potentially push millions of Americans out of their homes. The CDC put the eviction ban in place as part of the COVID-19 response when jobs shifted and many workers lost income. The ban was intended to hold back the spread of the virus among people put out on the streets and into shelters.

In a statement on Monday, the White House emphasized that the federal government has provided $46.5 billion to keep renters in their homes, but it accused states and cities of being “too slow to act,” preventing that aid from making its way to tenants whose livelihoods have been upended by the pandemic.

The focus on states comes as President Joe Biden faces criticism that he was was slow to address the end of the moratorium. House Speaker Nancy Pelosi called the prospect of widespread evictions “unfathomable.” Some people were at risk of losing their homes as soon as Monday; however the White House insists there is only so much it can do on its own and that state and local leaders need to step up and get the aid out. Gene Sperling, who oversees the administration’s coronavirus relief plans, told reporters: “The president is clear: If some states and localities can get this out efficiently and effectively there’s no reason every state and locality can’t. There is simply no excuse, no place to hide for any state or locality that is failing to accelerate their emergency” rental assistance.:

Mass evictions could potentially worsen the recent spread of the COVID-19 delta variant as roughly 1.4 million households told the Census Bureau they could “very likely” be evicted from their rentals in the next two months. Another 2.2 million say they’re “somewhat likely” to be evicted.

D.C. police officer who responded to Jan. 6 capitol riot found dead by suicide

Officials confirmed on Monday that another Washington, D.C. police officer who responded to the Jan. 6 riot at the capitol died by suicide. Officer Gunther Hashida, 43, was found dead at his home last Thursday. He is the third police officer who responded to the Capitol attack to die by suicide.

Metropolitan Police Department spokeswoman Brianna Burch said: “We are grieving as a department as our thoughts and prayers are with Officer Hashida’s family and friends.” Hashida joined the Metropolitan Police Department in May 2003 and was assigned to the emergency response team within the special operations division at the time of his death. House Speaker Nancy Pelosi issued a statement sending “deepest condolences” to Hashida’s family and loved ones. “Officer Hashida was a hero, who risked his life to save our Capitol, the Congressional community and our very Democracy. All Americans are indebted to him for his great valor and patriotism on Jan. 6 throughout his selfless service,” she said.

Metropolitan Police Officer Jeffrey Smith, a 12-year veteran, and U.S. Capitol Police Officer Howard Liebengood, a 16-year veteran, also died after responding to the insurrection. Capitol Police officer Brian Sicknick, who also responded to the attack, died of natural causes after experiencing strokes.

FGL, TR, Maren and more are Feeding Nashville by making music tonight

Tonight on the outskirts of Nashville, one of the most star-studded concerts in recent memory takes place, as Florida Georgia LineThomas RhettMaren MorrisRussell DickersonLauren Alaina and more step onstage at the all-new FirstBank Amphitheater.

It’s all to raise money for Feeding Nashville, a nonprofit Tyler Hubbard and his wife Hayley founded in April of 2020, after parts of Music City were devastated by a tornado, just as the COVID-19 pandemic hit.

“We had only raised money for three months,” Hayley explains. “We thought that that was where our money would run out and somehow, miraculously, our money lasted a full year and then some.”

“We learned that a lot of the people that were needing food, it didn’t matter if there was a pandemic or not,” she continues. “They needed food before this. And so we want to be there for when the pandemic’s over, when life is back to normal. We want to be there for everybody that needs a meal still.”

Tyler says when he picked up the phone to call on his superstar pals, there was no hesitation.

“It was honestly super-inspiring and encouraging to see how willing the artists were to show up and play and be a part of this night,” he reflects. “And even the people that couldn’t logistically make it happen were so bummed. You could tell they really wanted to be a part of it.”

“And it just meant the world to us,” Tyler adds, “and just shows how great a lot of these artists out here are.”

The Tennessee Titans’ Taylor Lewan and his wife Taylin co-founded Feeding Nashville with the Hubbards. This will be the first show at the new outdoor venue at Graystone Quarry in Thompson’s Station, Tennessee.
